I've heard rumours from mweb personal, that the enviromental issues in cpt's rollout, are just a smoke screen. The real issues holding up the launch is bickering amongst the sentech corporates on deals involving mweb.
</roumour>

No idea how valid this is... just bringing it up... to see if it can be cleared up. In anycase... lewks like i am going to just have to make a plan with adsl. :/ cant wait till mid year for sentech.

Still hoping sentech comes through, but they will have to hurry.
[:(!]

does greenpeace have a website? surely they would have bragging rights to holding up the cpt deployment?

i wont be suprised

plus, my one topic was just deleted

so there is definatly something fishy going on here

i'm actually regretting i got sentech

What on earth has MWeb to do with the price of eggs.

Well... thats exactly what i am asking? Answering a guetsion with a question doesnt tell me much. Rhetorical or not.

Look, we all know how many <roumours> there are out in the world. But we are also used to being lied to. Eitherway... if sentech want to launch in cpt next week... or next year, thats up to them. I was just commenting on a roumour. And was interested in finding out if there was any truth in it.

Typical... greenpeace.org seem to have sub sites all over the place EXCEPT south africa. Like i said before... surely greenpeace would document their challenge with sentech, as they do with other conquests.

I've been a big advacot for mywireless, still am. Even if i am forced to go another route. I'm glad they are here, its good for the country.

silversurfer, Greenpeace just got blamed for this because they are Greenpeace although it could be them, but the Enviromental Impact study is what the problem is/was.
From what I gather there are already 2 or 3 sites up and ready to run but for the above problem cannot be switched on. [:(]
Regarding any deals etc that could stop a launch is just not true.

I dont have MyWireless so this topic is not my forte.

But I would ask the people at Sentech, what Environmental Issues are they referring to.
Procedural ones, perhaps with Council? Like Cell Masts? Im the Chairperson of our Ratepayers Association and the only Application we have in the mill is for Cell C. And our area covers 18000 people.
Other than the masts Im not aware of any other sort of Environmental Issues.
So is it another sort of Environmental Issue.

Hi Proasm

I know it isn't you responsibility to keep us informed about Sentech management decisions. Your doing a great job keeping us informed on the technical side of things

Three cheers for Proasm!!!

I would be very nice if someone from the management side of Sentech, could commit so much effort to keep us (their clients) informed about happening, and providing some answers. A regular Sentech news section on their site would also be a welcome addition.

I think most (if not all) of the people on this forum would agree.

I am associated with someone (how well associated I can't say!) who did a radiation hazard study for Sentech in the not too distant past. There was concern over radiation hazards as Sentech is proposing to put up antennae on a building that already has masts for MTN, Vodacom and Cell C.

Perhaps there are more cases like these that need to be checked out in CT.

Ajax

Ahhh, that would make some sense. As even if existing buildings carry masts, those masts have premission to carry different signals. Perhaps they need to get permission still. But not ever seeing an application like this one, I cannot say.
