Smoking motorists beware

At traffic lights you should just stop, get out of your car, pick up the stomping and either flick it back or if the window is closed you place it on the bonnet.

I do this all the time. Since years ago when someone threw a cigarette butt out of a window and it landed on my lap on my bike, I've been returning it to the offending party.

Amazing to hear their excuses when you hand them their sigarette butt back (easy enough to stop and pick it up on a bike and catch up to hand it back). "It acidentally fell out", etc.

So the 'how to enforce' is simple; cops on bikes. The problem is moving violations is just too much an effort for them. Much easier to sit next to the road and sleep till your money printing machine beeps.

Seeing people flicking butts out the window is a common as seeing people talking on their cell phones, reading the newspaper, eating breakfast or doing their makeup in the morning traffic.

Why not say and cigarette or matches. A match would be probably be dead when an officer claims it for evidence!

that is why all cars have a frigging ash-tray .... and for some reason, the local smoking drivers are too frigging stupid to know why they have an ash-tray in their cars .... oh, no, wait ..... a cigarette butt will make their cars smell ...... typical SA mentality ..... and oh yes .... all those smokers want to emmigrate, to get away from the "animals" in SA .... but little do they realize that they will be considered as animals in Europe if they do such inconsiderate things ....

Not all smokers are inconsiderate, but there's a good few guilty of flicking burning stompies out of car windows.
A long time back while on my old Kawa Z1000, I had one such driver flick a hot stompie out the window and it lodged in my kit causing a helluva burn.
Now I have similar fears for my soft-top car.
These days many car parts such as bumpers and head lamps are plastic, and at risk with these stompies tossed out the windows.

I just wonder where they'll get the resources to police all these new laws.
