Smokoo shuts down

:D

Smokoo announced on its website that it has been “acquired by bidfair and has ceased trading”.

“Smokoo customers may access Bidfair Site at www.bidfair.co.za,” the Smokoo announcement states.

According to Smokoo their customers are required to manually register a new account with Bidfair within 60 days to keep their credits.

“Once the 60 day period has expired any Smokoo customer who has not manually registered a new account with Bidfair, will forfeit any Smokoo bids remaining on their Smokoo account,” the company said.

Bidfair CEO Denzil Govender said that they decided to acquire Smokoo to boost Bidfair’s presence and grow its user base

about %#$^$#% time, but it seems it just got rebranded and run by other sleazeballs now...

Not like they lost out on this. They cashed in on clients and with the sale of the site.

I wasted a total of R1000 on smokoo over a few months, eventually won an auction for a memory stick then told it was an invalid bid. Bunch of scammers.

Penny auctions = *&^*&%

Good Riddance

Tired of their spam and pop-up ads and their ads on torrent websites.... seriously... what a k*k name smokoo...
maybe their owners smokooed a bit too much weed.

Good ridance, yes but Bidfair should be shut down too. I don't understand how scams like this can be legal??

thanks to the internet its easy to scam the gullible brain donors behind a keyboard... those types that shouldn't even be near a PC anyway

I say good for them.
If people want to give them money, then best of luck to the penny auctioneers.
I'm just jealous that I wasn't the one to start off the model in SA

all you complainers... didnt win much hey?
hehehe... me too.... i lost a full R50 checking it out some time after they started spamming everything, before i realised you need megabucks more than i have, to be able to win anything.
the lucky sod who was winning so much was probly some insider just to keep the sheep playing.
well, gotta hand it to them for coming up with the idea, they must've really coined very well!

I still can't understand how these penny auction sites aren't considered as online gambling.
If online casinos are banned in SA then so should penny auction sites.

how is this still legal but we can't play poker online?
