SMS resignation can be final

Coming back to the SMS issue...

IMO it will not be legalised as a method of legal signature as you need to prove that the recipient actually received the message.

With an email (which is now a legal document) you can set the tracking options to return delivery and read receipts of the recipient to the sender and these can be used as proof that the recipient received and read the email.

Is there a SMS equivalent to track your messages?

MickeyD, its easier to fake the meta information in an email than an SMS but its also harder to retrieve the SMS meta information (SMSC and MO MSISDN).

You can get confirmation that it was sent. With e-mail the recipient can block the read confirmation. Even with a physical letter how do you prove the employer received it unless you take along a witness? With both e-mail and text message you could also have a sent folder you can use as proof of sending. The law does err on the side of the employee in this though.
