Hi all.
I have just reloaded an MTN bundle. I changed my SMTP settings to mail.mtn.co.za but when I try to send mail (from Thunderbird), I get a message saying the certificate has expired, also that the certificate is registered to "spee" not MTN.
Anyone know why this might be the case?
If you chose to "send anyway" the mail goes through, but it is quite irritating to get the message eash time you send a mail...
Thanks

Certificate issues

I get an untrusted certificate issue when I connect to my Gmail account with my Nokia 6680. How do I resolve this?

check your security settings? what happens with my bitdefender antivirus application is "untrusted certificate- proceed anyway?" i say yes and im a for away!

I had a similar problem with my SE K750i, I found the certificates on some site (non-english site), After struggling to find the certs, I got it and sent it via bluetooth. I'll look on my pc tomorrow. over 250GB of files to look through.

Anyway for now you can try this, just got this info now:

The cause of the problem is that Series 60 phones, much like web browsers, have a list of trusted root certificates, and the one Gmail uses, from Equifax, isn’t in it.

How to fix it? I search around, and didn’t find a single page with instructions on how to solve this thing. But, by combining this and this, I was able to remove that annoying prompt for good.

Here’s how to do it:

* Using the phone’s browser (Opera also works), browse to http://www.ocasta.co.uk/cert.html. Click on the only link on that page.
* It should prompt you to install the certificate. Accept it.
* It should ask you what you want to trust the certificate for. Choose “Internet”.

This works on my Nokia 6630. Other phones may simply install the certificate, after which you have to go to Settings, Security, Certificate Management, and set the new Equifax certificate as “Trusted”.

Thanks mh348, it works.

 Cool ""

If you still need me to look for the certificates just let me now. Another solution that I found is to change the smtp to smtp.googlemail.com , I haven't tried it but I read somewhere that it doed. googlemail.com also belongs to google, They use it in UK (I think) and other countries where Gmail is registered to another company.

Thx for the suggestions guys - disappointed that MTNDD doesnt bother answering...
As soon as my bundle runs out I'm going back to VM....

I think MTN DD is off on a family emergenry, so don't be too hard on him, he usually always answers the posts.

Good day,

I do apologize I left on Tuesday and only got back today.

Well I thought I had resolved my problem by switching to mail.mtnice as my smtp setting, but I now realise that nothing I sent through there actually reached its destination!
So I am now back on mail.mtn and still getting the same garbage messages which means to send each mail takes three clicks not one.
This is via Thunderbird on my laptop, so the phone workarounds posted do not apply...
MTNDD, your help would be appreciated...
