On a 8kW inverter? Isn't the max for that Sunsynk 8800W solar input? What happens to the rest?

You can overspec on the max amp and Watts on the panels. As long as you make sure the voltage will never reach the max voltage the mppt / inverter can handle. Over voltage will blow things up. Over watt and over amps just goes un used.

Thanks. So rather go for bigger Watt panels since they have almost the same voltage?

Think he got a good deal for those panels, otherwise he probably would have gotten bigger, go 550W if you want, but sometimes smaller panels fit better on the roof, just keep string voltage within tolerance.

I also have more than enough roof space to cater for ±30kw of solar panels in total so panel size was not a major consideration.

80A per battery puts it at just under 0.7C, so yes I agree that the usable life will be extended beyond that guaranteed, provided that all of the other factors are also favorable (daily cycling, discharge rates, temperatures and inverter comms).

Interesting that you have a 12K - 3P? Residential install? How is it treating you, and how long have you had it for?

Sometimes we forget the Sunsynk also makes bigger stuff, like the 40/45/50K (considering that the thread is about a solar farm ;))

Yes it's a 3PH residential . Had it for 2 weeks now but did lots of research before biting the bullet.
It's working really well. Have a longer term plan to also charge electric car one day, hopefully we will see affordable chinese electric cars in SA soon.

Sure. These are the 12 x 455w JA Solar panels. bottom and top row are separate streams in series doing 300v each and connected into sperate MPPT's on the inverter.

Because our DB board sits deep in the house, garage install was not an option. Wife had to sacrifice her linen cabinet.

After installer left I made 3 holes at top of cupboard to let hot air through to ceiling and as you can see I have a thermometer against the wall to monitor temperature, never goes above 32 degrees when cupboard is closed.

On outside of cupboard I installed 2 air vents at bottom to let cooler air in.

Judging by the shadows, the roof looks smack bang North. The linen cupboard looks was made for it, being so small it would be easy to install active cooling should you want to go that route later. Very neat install, I love it!

Nice. What hubble's are those? Looks like there are 2 different sizes, the ones on the sides look bigger than the one in the middle or is it the camera adding 10 pounds?
