Jokes aside, it looks like a decent camera and gets good reviews. What you will miss compared to DSLR is the low depth of field that SLR offers and low noise at high ISO. What you should focus on with this camera is composition! Rule of thirds is a good starting point! I.e. divide the image into 9 quadrants and place the focal point on the points of intersection between the quadrants (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_thirds) Exposure control is pretty accurate nowadays but if you really want progress quickly, master aperture and shutter priority. Use the macro mode in your nature reserve and keep the aperture wide open (F3.1 to F5.6 in your case) to keep the depth of field as low as possible to isolate your subject (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depth_of_field).
