So I went to Capitec

They should be fine with it, as they confirm your salary with HR.

You were correct, I whent to a branch today and they said it's fine since they will confirm it with my employer anyway.
I don't qualify for the CC however since I have no credit record, the plan was to get the CC just so that I could get a credit record in the first place.
Odd thing is, I qualify for a lone of something like R65K even though I have no credit record, but I can't get a CC with a small monthly limit.

I had to replace my expiring card this weekend. It sucks to pay R55 when I didn't lose the card, but Capitec more than covers that in interest to me.

The fee goes up to R60 from 1 March.

Where they shaft you, is inter account transfers. If you have SMS notifactions enabled, they will hit you 1x SMS for money out of one of your accounts and another SMS for money in on the destination linked account. Savage!

This is the only thing that angers me. I do a lot of inter account transfers.

If they allowed us to EXCLUDE inter-account transfer notifications, I would definitely enable sms notifications for money in and out on all other transactions. But alas, I have reverted to storing all $$ in one of the 4 other accounts and only move money into the main account just before the debit order run.... Their loss.

CC is unsecured. The easiest way to get a credit record is open a retail account and pay is off the same month. Everybody needs clothes.

Does anyone use the budget facility in the app? Can you add money you have or own?

I thought that it was just to show your how your spending fits in different categories. You can create secondary savings accounts to add money into.

Got the CC. Stupid that you can't turn off the monthly Debit Order. Card expires in a year :wtf: No NFC which even my free Number 26 bank card has. Had to sign more paperwork than buying a house :wtf: All in all it's great just needing to carry one card.

I'm not a fan of the Capitec credit card and recommend the Virgin Money one over it. I don't see a point in paying Capitec R55pm for one of the worst credit cards in SA.

Atleast it is R35 now.

Thanks. Seems like it will send them a request next week should be easy to add in then I can leave 22seven.

This. The convergence is great and I'll glady pay it so I don't have to use the VMCC/Absa internet banking again. Love the quick access via app aswell.
