So I went to Capitec

I find FNB's student account to be pricey, my only concern is the queues I see at Capitec ATM's.

Any idea when are they supporting digital wallets like Samsung pay?
Doesn't Samsung pay scan/emulate the card?

Rather just take a normal capitec account or an easy account at FNB, student account isn't really worth the effort.

Withdraw at tills, as a student you're not going to withdraw a lot and nowadays pretty much everyone accept cards.

Can one turn off sms notifications? Seems expensive.
Yes. Funny enough they charge you another sms to do so. You also still get other smses like limit changes and such so it's not a complete opt-out.

"A R3 processing (authorisation/clearing) fee will be charged for international transactions switched by Mastercard®, for both successful and unsuccessful transactions, whether the transaction was initiated cross-border from outside South Africa or locally from within South Africa"

This isn't clear. What do they mean by "switched"? Paypal already converts to Rand. Steam charges in Rands but I'm not sure if that's settled in Rand or Dollar. So is this for all international transactions, those in other currencies, or some Rand denominated ones as well?

I'm assuming they mean any and every transaction that is with an intl vendor will be charged the fee, seeing the only transaction you will ever be able to do with a Capitec backed card will be switched via Mastercard because they don't offer any Visa cards. Why they put that term in there I don't know because it implies some kind of choice.

The fckers are already charging R3 for payments made last month that only cleared after midnight.

Overseas ones come with a flat fee of R3 now.
I noticed this today...

They are also blocking some international transactions. I want to switch banks because of these two developments, do other banks also do this "Mastercard® processing fee for international transactions"?
