Hey people,

I just have a quick question about an iPad that I got through FNB. The device slipped out of my hand and now the top left corner of the glass is cracked. Except for the screen giving off glass splinters, everything seems to be working fine.

I've spoken with someone from FNB and they sent me the document that I need to take with to an iStore. But I haven’t yet been able to confirm whether this is covered by FNB or the device warranty. Have any of you perhaps gone through this process?

Thanks

P.S. I've always taken good care of my gadgets and the device was in a protective cover. But I guess the angle at which it hit the table was perfect because it only fell about 20cm and it still popped out of the cover and broke. :(

Just take it to the iStore (good luck) and they'll send it in and then you'll get quoted on how much it will cost to repair. They're not going to do it for free, if that's what you're asking.

You dropped it. It's not a warranty claim...

Suggest you look up what a warranty entails.

Unfortunately dropping your device and breaking the screen is not included.

Yeah, that’s what I thought. I’m able to import a replacement digitizer and all of the necessary tools for about R 400. I highly doubt that the iPeople will charge me less than that. So I’m not even going to bother taking it in, the closest iStore is about 280km from here.

Too much of these threads ("device falls, only corner damage"), making me doubt if I read it before.

You dropped it yourself, it seems that it is your fault, maybe you have to pay out of your own pocket

Unless you have it specified on your home insurance policy and are covered for accidental damage...
