So, it is party time again

Sounds cool, I think you have covered everthing!!

Maybe find more games for them to play, or get a jumping castle.
*Musical thrones (musical chairs)
*Pass the castle (wrap a gift up in a castle shape somehow... maybe have like 5 gifts, 1 big one and four smaller ones for the turrets)
*Musical statues - have waltzing music

thanks! I think I will definitely be doing some of those

You can rent cake moulds from baking shops, i'm sure they will have a castle shaped one.

Good luck with the baking Hot Chocolate ... the best cakes are always the homemade ones :).

I quite liked this cake's turrets ... as a kid those ice-cream cones filled with goodies were a real winner ... reminds me a bit of that particular b-day treat.

this actually gave me an idea. I will make towers out of sugar paste by covering tall glasses lightly with wax paper, and then rolling the sugar paste around it. I can make it well in advance and decorate it with royal icing and pre-made icing flowers (shop bought). I will put a cone for the tops and fill the whole thing with sweets. But I will make enough so each child can have one

k, you can do my next birthday. I want a cool castle cake too, but i want a dragon next to it that protects the castle, and I want a moat, (with jelly in it), and a cool drawbridge that you can move up and down :D

castel, check

dragon (lots to choose from at toys r us, I am sure) check
jelly moat, check (easy to make. build up the surrounding area with sugar paste and 'glue' clingwrap in the hollow using royal icing. fill with desired colour jelly and leave to set)

drawbridge can be made out of pretzel sticks, or else wafers glued together with melted chocolate. will have to use string to let it go up and down. and will have to think on how to secure it to the bottom. But I am sure it can be done.

edit: secure a pretzel stick diagonally into sugar paste and bottom of castle 'floor'. that way the bridge can move up and down without slipping out of position
