Just checked my router and my adsl line is now 6mbit downstream and 640kb upstream. Ive got an axxess express fiber account and went to speedtest.net and it shows that axxess is limiting me to a 4mbit downstream speed. Is that correct? I thought that after hours you are only limited to your line speed??

Seeing that my line is now 6mbit, it means that my exchange doesnt support 8mbit?

I also wondered what would happen when we were upgraded. The products are advertised as maximum line speed after hours.... but that is gonna make a serious dent in their bandwidth.

As far as I am aware, this is still the trial stage and the various exchanges are being tested at various speeds. Some at 12 mbps, some at 10, etc. So it might not be your final speed... unless it is limited because of your distance and line condition.

In waterkloof, pat. exchange is 012 346

its now changed again, 6.5mbits. whenever it happens my router goes on the blink, have to keep on resetting. did a speed test now and its bad, 2.9mbits and 120ms! They must still be busy working on it.

Try a different adsl modulation type maybe, you never know.

How do I try a different modulation? In my router settings? Its a netgear DG834GT
One of these?
Multiplexing Method LLC-BASED VC-BASED
VPI
VCI

some googling indicate that the adsl setting is not changable by the user in the GT. It should automatically select adsl2+, apparently it is compatible. Im going to borrow my parents' SMC draft N that I boiught for them in 2008, maybe that will be better. I think my line is a 8mbits, but im only connecting at between 6mbit to 6.6.

I just signed up for the uncapped express + and asked the guy at axxess what would happen if they change my line speed to 8 meg or whatever and he did confirm that i would get the highest speeds! so lets hope

im enjoying my account, downloaded over 30 gigs already :)

I've been on 4mbps since we moved to our new office in Hatfield. Anybody have any idea if and when we might be bumped up?
