Long story short; what are the odds of someone becoming pregnant if they're on the pill, and a condom is always used... but the condom broke and they've been taking antibiotics for a few days?

I'm adamant that it's a pretty long shot and not worth working myself into a flat spin about (yet), but the GF has been in a state of panic...

I reckon you've already shown that stats mean buggerall to you when the condom broke while she was taking antibiotics on the pill, so congratulations, you'll be a dad in 9 months.

Chances aren't great. At best a woman is only fertile for a week or so between periods so timing is a factor. Long-term use of the Pill messes with a woman's ability to conceive also, so I wouldn't be terribly worried. The chance is there, sure, but you can build that bridge if you get there.

Antibiotics prevent babies?

No, screws up the Pill...

See if only you listened when she said she had a headache...

I think the odds are forever in your favour when it comes to not impregnating a woman(Thus 50/50 chance ie flip a coin to see if you will be a dad).

That should worry you!

Here is a great thread that will help you

You can send her to a family planing clinic where they will give her (free) the "morning after" pill, if the event was in the last 2 days. That should get the GF to stop panicking.

But seriously the chances of conception are slim.

Also: what were you doing that the condom broke? KY Jelly, young man, KY Jelly.

It's supposed to be shark week in a few days, so I guess we'll know pretty soon...

Edit: This happened last night. I told her that the odds of this leading to anything are fairly slim. She's going to a pharmacy this morning to find out if her mix of antibiotics and contraception are amongst those that affect each other, and get a morning afer pill just to make as sure as possible.

Even so she spent half the night on google working herself into a frenzy, which I guess I'll have to live with until her next period.

Just be grown-up about it. Chances are slim, but act with knowledge that the possibility is there. Biggest thing is that, if she smokes and/or drinks, she really shouldn't until you know one way or the other. If she does miss her period, go check your local Clicks for pregnancy tests. They're almost foolproof so follow the instructions and you'll know soon enough.

Well no Birth controll is 100% (unless you use Abstinance )

Then again Even if not on the pill it can be dificult to fall pregnant.
So 50/50

After Watching "I didnt know I was Pregnant" (and our first pregnancy) you can have a period and still be pregnant (technically its not a period )
