Software to boost performance and cleans cluttered Registry files

Hi there.

Windows 7 Ultimate, x64

I use the free version of AVG. I got a pop-up from them telling me that I can try out their utility to clean up my registry which will also improves my PC's performance. I downloaded and ran the software. Needless to say my PC had a lot of problems in the registry and a bunch of other problems. Things I have never experienced as problems.

My question ...
The complete software package to run scheduled defrags and who knows what else, will cost me $29.00

In principle I don't have a problem paying, but how can I know that it really works and doing what they are telling me?

What experience do you have with these PC enhancers and does it really boosts performance of my machine?
I will really appreciate your comments and advice.

It's a scam.

Needless to say my PC had a lot of problems in the registry and a bunch of other problems. Things I have never experienced as problems.

Because they're not, it's a scam. Google around a bit, you will see plenty of articles on how these a/v companies' report non-existent viruses in order to sell you the product.
 
tried registry reviver after numerous other "tuneup" programs and worked the best.

+1 for Malwarebytes
