Software to control an Android phone from Windows 7 desktop

scrcpy is currently next on my list - I discovered it just after I had started this thread.

Not sure you what brand phone you are using, but if you using a samsung you can even enable a shortcut on the phone to enable you to use some of the physical buttons .e.g. volume, home, recent apps, screenshot etc

I see you do have a Samsung, you enable by going to settings->accessibility->interaction and dexterity->Assistant Menu (may differ depending on the model of your phone)

Oh right lol that's a good choice actually, unless they need a larger display as well

It's not a bad option if the OP is using one of the later model Samsung phones, connect to monitor or tv via hdmi and use Dex with your keyboard and mouse.

Can anyone recommend (preferably free) software that will allow me to control my Samsung 'phone from a Windows 7 desktop using the mouse & keyboard ?

My clumsy fingers are having hassles with apps such as Checkers Sixty60.

I have downloaded and tested most of the popular recommendations, thus far without success <sigh>

get a bluetooth mouse , or USB mouse - teamview or anydesk works as well

Your link wasn't helpful. The only remote software being used in the clip is Teamviewer

You were looking at one of the old clips. They use AnyDesk as TeamViewer blocked all Indian IP addresses.

Thanks guys - I finally managed to get scrcpy working.

It required adding new drivers, running Windows Update, re-updating the just-installed drivers etc. - though I did draw the line at sacrificing any goats and/or virgins ...

That said, it's doing the job & I'm happy

Don't worry the data will get backed up in India. They will also backup your banking login details.
