Software to control an Android phone from Windows 7 desktop

Can anyone recommend (preferably free) software that will allow me to control my Samsung 'phone from a Windows 7 desktop using the mouse & keyboard ?

My clumsy fingers are having hassles with apps such as Checkers Sixty60.

I have downloaded and tested most of the popular recommendations, thus far without success <sigh>
 
You shouldn't have a Windows 7 machine connected to the internet anymore, there are no security updates.
Upgrade to W10, you can still do it for "free" with an activated W7 license: https://www.zdnet.com/article/heres-how-you-can-still-get-a-free-windows-10-upgrade/

Many thanks for the advice.

Unfortunately Windows 10 is missing features that are important to me e.g. the Virtual XP mode that allows me to run software that I own but cannot successfully update.

scrcpy is currently next on my list - I discovered it just after I had started this thread.
 
Well, other option is you run android in an emulator, install the app on there as well.
 
Also definitely recommend scrcpy, hopefully the libraries it uses are still compatible with W7 (even though you shouldn't be using that hehe).

I do not recommend any emulators as not only do you expose yourself to the possibility of spyware going rogue, but those applications may refuse to run for security reasons in the first place.

Plug in the mouse and keyboard into your phone with usb on the go?

I don't understand why people use bluestacks, just use the normal dev one Google provides (just install android SDK, then use the avdmanager via command line if you want to avoid installing android studio), if you're already going the scrcpy route you should be fine with a terminal.

Your link wasn't helpful. The only remote software being used in the clip is Teamviewer.

Maybe this is what you were eluding to? There very few commercial remote software apps that allow access to mobile devices. It's natural for Anydesk to be exploited due to it offering that functionality. It still requires a very naïve host to furnish the scammer with the personal device id numbers and passwords required in order to gain access.

Not sure you what brand phone you are using, but if you using a samsung you can even enable a shortcut on the phone to enable you to use some of the physical buttons .e.g. volume, home, recent apps, screenshot etc
 
Anydesk works well for one of my elderly clients
