Has anyone used the solar pool cover from builders? Its currently on special (around R30-R50 cheaper than most cover suppliers).

Its sold in strips that are 1.25m wide, so I would need to glue the panels together. But my query is around the quality of this cover, is it worth it and will it last 5+ years?

A lot of places advertise a 500 micron cover and even geo bubbles, but no one has solid stats on the benefits, just a few points that claim its better.

There's lots of variables to consider when purchasing these covers namely the Microns, Bubble and Welding quality.

From what I've seen at Builders is a lesser quality than what you would find from a niche supplier hence them selling at a cheaper price.

Trust me after a year your cover will basically have perished due to exposure to sun, chemicals and shrinkage.

I import these covers and purposefully visit my suppliers to ensure they produce products for the harsh SA climate. If you're in Cape Town then DM for a quote.

Zombie thread. 8 years later do you still import bubble covers?
