Got this reply from solar assistant

This is a bug with the ''Activation failed'' error message you see. Please update to our latest beta 2026-01-28 to fix this

Assuming you were on the latest stable version that seems really unacceptable.

FYI, I just tried the latest beta "2026-02-15" and it properly stuffed up my load readings.

I didn't want to complain, but those of us on the original plan , i.e. purchased >4 years ago had the option to be grandfathered in - for the single device we had. I only became aware of it thanks to this forum. I made the request and had got it last year . I was previously also in the beta stream. Anyways, one day early this year, I was not seeing data in HA, thought it was acting up and rebooted it (I have a smart plug connected to the Pi for this reason).

A few days later it happened again - logged into Solar Assistant to see that my trial had expired, etc ... when my 'trial' ended - it stopped doing anything!! The option was to revert from the Beta back to the main stream (a few versions older). That looked like a dangerous option - since I was not even in the country. So I paid for the sub.

This is why it's grating and they need to be better!
1. No frikking emails or anything from them warning me that trial is going to end.
2. While I would have (and have) happily paid for the software, I was grandfathered in, and as such this **** shouldn't have happened.

They need to improve their customer service.

I used the opt out option last year. FYI, that link now redirects to the subscription service.

I now see they are going to include "pro" features as part of the subscription service. So, I thought I would support them and purchase one year to see what "pro" features we will see in 2026.

Now my "pro" subscription sits in limbo with no way to assign it to my site. I have emailed them to find out what is going on.

Mine is listed as Perpetual. I see they added another screen now with a "Continue with Update" option which I didn't have before. So you're saying I should just ignore this and stay on the old version?

R419 is nothing though for 2 years, I just don't feel like they're offerening anything I want over what I already have and paid for originally. I'll reconsider if an update comes along that moves the bar.

The Beta looks really cool. It has graphs for estimated solar yield and cloud cover. The graphs also feel a bit more modern with a dark mode now inlcuded. I tried the beta end of last year, but it broke some other stuff, so I rolled back. Will purchse the 1 year pro license when the next stable build is released.

I don't need forecasting as I already get this for free with Home Assistant. I honestly don't really ever need to log into SA anymore, except when performing back ups as everything I do through Home Assistant.

Do you have the URL for that screenshot? I have never seen that before on my side.

It goes here when I try to update from inside SA.

Link takes me here (I just replaced the site_id and my domain):
