Never thought highest fees and worst service would do so well together.

I wonder if they'll all go through with it. It's one thing to say "yaar, yes, lets stick it to the man" but when it comes to actually transferring debit orders, the losses incurred with insurance/retirement policies I'm sure quite a large number of them will think otherwise.

Off topic, unless you both Solidarity visionaries who foresaw this move.

Yeah, posts about disliking and leaving ABSA are clearly totally off-topic in a thread about a major organisation disliking and leaving ABSA.

Banks one of the few "business" institutions that are literally allowed to steal money from clients...I own my own business but I am not allowed just to subtract money from clients for "admin fees. ledger fees...counting fee...tea fee...excess on overdraft ledger filing fee"...they just make this **** up as they go along...and all they are doing is stealing R1 here and R2 there...but from millions of clients...what a racket.

Question for those posters who moved away from ABSA in the recent past: were they interested enough to ask you why you are closing an account/s?

Actually totally disagree, it has everything to do with it. Honestly, do you guys just look around trying to find "off topic" posts to point them out and up your post count? This post of mine is as useless to this thread as yours...I'm ashamed.

Good question!
Slightly off topic but I remember when I left vodacom they kicked up a fuss and tried to get me to stay, then when I left Mtn 2 years later they said nothing...Like they don't care about my business.

Go to their website and click on news->latest reports;)

Thanks

Very humourous post, but very true.

Actually no, they were not.
I was at an ABSA branch after having lost my debit card and was told that it'd cost R46 to replace.
I'd already been researching Capitec for months and that was the last straw.
R46 for a piece of plastic I asked? The lady shrugged her shoulders and I told her to forget about it and that I'd be closing my account - she never gave me a second thought and I walked out of there.
In fact, I never went back into a branch to close my account, opened my Capitec acc, moved my debits over to them and never went into an ABSA branch again.

3 months later for the hell of it, I called to see if the ABSA acc was active and as I'd anticipated, Head Office closed the acc and wrote off the service charges and I was officially done with them - not even a call in those 3 months from them.

Thats the thing, why should they care, as you walk out the bank, two new customers walk in.

They're going to make a fortune off policy penalties and the like.

I'm happy in the knowledge that I've moved between 15-20 clients away from ABSA and FNB to Capitec though.
And I'm constantly speaking to whomever I meet about it and hope to move even more people.
Viva Free Swiping!

Well - If another bank offers me an access bond at -1.5% or better - I'm gone... its the only thing keeping me at ABSA.

Banks do not give a ****...they only exist because society lives off credit. Keep your money under you matress.

Where are the absa fanboi's?Would love to hear their 2c.

lol...Personally I been happy with ABSA since I was a student banking at United Bank and now enjoying my private banking with them. My 1st bond was with Saambou and that ended in disaster. FNB took over and their service sucked. All my accounts are with ABSA except vehicle finance. BMW offers better interest rates and service.
