Solution to keep gaming during loadshedding

Yeah I did that, but I prefer the responses here.
It was an AGM lead acid so I wanted someone here to tell me if it's ok or nah.

I was helping someone carry their battery because it was faulty. Didn't realise they meant it was faken leaking
It depends on if it was on skin or clothes if clothes get them off, they'll have nice burns. On skin rinse as quickly as possible

Ok great thanks, I feel fine so far. That's pretty much was I did. Skin a bit tingly but nothing severe

Just to update this thread.

It is now 11/07/2023 and I started this thread on 27/10/2021

Since getting my batteries the following has happened.

After 10 ish months I took my BBone in, batteries replaced under warranty.

I also bought 2x extra batteries at that time, so 4x new batteries overall. They started beeping the other night, not sure if batteries are done for again, its weird we didn't have much loadshedding recently.

I can send those 2x new batts in for warranty, but even so, it's such a hassle.

Ultimately it all costed me like R17 000? I think? I know the first time was waaaaay cheaper than stuff is now.

So R17 000 for it to last about 2 years ish. Not terrible, but not amazing. Knowing what I know now about lead acid AGM, I would in future go lithium.

But the prices are kinda crazy right now. So idk.

I think that these BBones are decent for the price, but in future I would go for Pure Sine Wave and I will get something that has BMS - or add it seperately after.

What are you replacing it with?

What are you replacing it with?
I have no idea.
I was thinking of the Mecer IVR MPPT 2400 and 2x SOL-B-L-M200 Lithium Batteries, but they are second life so idk.

Or whatever Linqnets version of that is.

Either way its probably gonna cost a lot and im sad.

could bought lithuim for the price :(

Mecer 2400va odd 3k, 2x100ah lithuims 6k each. Lithuims prices come down a bit and you can get lead carbon which does 1500 cycles for R4500 each.
Lithiums haven't come down, in fact they are about 3k more now then last year

Depends where you shop, the local store has weird shaped lithuims for 6k 100ah use be bit more. But they very long and thin, but works great. The more premuim brands is probably up. But there option of tubular batteries now, which was not an option before.

Not really all that crazy when you can do a 4.8-5.2kW 48V battery for only a couple of thousand more…and it would still have been going and lasted a lot longer than 2 hours.

I'm open to recommendations.
Would rather do it right this time.

Okay so I've tallied up the options;

Setup 1;
RCT-3000GXR-48VRCT 3000VA/3000W 48V EXTENDED RUN RACK MOUNT ONLINE UPS
RCT-3000GXR BMS CARD
RCT BAT DYNESS B3Dyness B3 48V DC 3.55KWh Lithium Inverter Battery
RCT BAT DYNESS POWER CABLE

R35k ish

Setup 2;
NAVASOLAR PV1800 VPM 3KW 24V OFFGRID SOLAR INVERTER 60A MPPT

NAVASOLAR 12.8V 100AH LIFEPO4 IP65 BATTERY PACK 1,28KWH x 2

About 20k ish, can add 2x more batteries and it will be 34k ish

Setup 3; Mecer again
1x IVR-2400MPPT - MECER 2400VA 1800W 24V W/MPPT INVERTER

2x SOL-B-L-CFE100-12V - 100Ah 12V lithium Battery

About 20k ish as well

Setup 4;

LINKQNET 3KVA/2.4KW 24V INVERTER WITH 60A PWM SCC
LQ BATTERY PACK LIPO4 25.6V 200AH CAN BMS W/MOUNT
Cables

Like 40k

So what do you guys think? I honestly think its a bit crazy, but I just want it to last 3 years +

Hope you have a pretty good income, cause you're spending big bucks just to game a little longer. Don't look back and think how much you could have put into something that doesn't depreciate in value so fast.

But if you're going all in, would a gaming laptop and a smaller battery system for monitor not be an option?

Get yourself a ROG Ally and a 65W output powerbank and you'll be fine. If not finding a power bank capable of outputing up to 65W with enough capacity then get a Bluetti or Ecoflow and you'll be able to game on the ROG for hours.

ROG Ally from ASUS directly has a 3 year warranty. It's R16K and will allow you to game on its battery for 1hour but for a longer loadshedding session you'll need like a Bluetti or Ecoflow:

That will allow you to game for at least 10 hours at full speed, 30 W Turbo mode.

So for about R27K you'll have >3 years of gaming given Bluetti has 3000 charge cycles and the Ally has 3 years of warranty. You can play new titles like Jedi Survivor on the thing as well at even 60fps.

I admire the amount of effort put into this thread. Gotta respect the love of gaming. I mirror @Mirai 's sentiment. It would probably be the easiest way to go. Failing that, an Xbox series S and one of the various power options. Ecoflow comes to mind for its quick charging capability but maybe something else thats cheaper could do the job just as well

The Ally can do 3 hours if the game you're playing isn't too intense. The Series S can also work with a 24" monitor or tv to optimise low power

I assume he plays more intense titles. Even there you have 1 hour and if you buy a R10K Bluetti or Ecoflow River etc you can then game through even 10 hours. If you want to power a monitor with that, then maybe 5-6 hours easily on max Ally settings. For about R27K he can game AAA titles for up to 10 hours at a time non stop, that's like stage 6+ territory.

If he wants to game on 4K using an RTX 4090 then he'll need a proper home solar/inverter setup or maybe an Ecoflow Delta Pro and those go for R60K and up.

If he is pulling 850W he'll need something like the Ecoflow Delta Pro or maybe Ecoflow Delta 2 with extra battery. The Delta Pro is 3.6KWh so he'll get 4 hours max on that and I see that now costs about R70K. A Delta Pro with extra battery will cost him R140K and he'll be able to game for 8 hours. A Delta 2 with extra battery which in total costs R38K will give him 2 hours.

Rog Ally: 10 hours gaming with an Ecoflow River 2 Max or Bluetti, for about R10-11K. That's a total of about R27K for more gaming.
