If you can pop around with your modem, we can try it on my system. If it works, I'll give you mine to use over the weekend to test. I'm in Plattekloof, but you probably know that?

If you don't get your problem solved, Hiro, at least you would have had the pleasure of seeing v3g's place. It's very nice ;)

Well, I made some progress. (Might now not have the pleasure to see v3g's place though - apparently its very nice...). I disabled "SlySoft AnyDVD" and immediately the VMC Lite installation started! I can now access the the device through windows explorer. Just this experience alone left me feeling all warm and fuzzy with joy and at the same time brutal hatred towards my AnyDVD software... Anyway long story short, I still can't connect to the device (e220). I ran "SystemInfoApp" and it declares that it found HUAWEI E220 but sadly cant connect to it. At least I now have new hope in winning this dual - me against HUAWEI E220 (nothing personal:cool: ). Oh and thanks to v3g and the guys for all the help so far...

YEAH! I am connected via my e220. Note to all: If you have AnyDVD running on your pc then you will not be able to get your e220 to work! Uninstall AnyDVD and you will have a much better chance of success - worked for me...

 nice to hear that the problem is not the E220 itself :).

Was AnyDVD on all the systems you tried?

Sounds like AnyDVD grabs the new drive (flashdrive on the E220) to see if it is a DVD and does not properly release it.

You're most welcome to pop around for a beer in any case!

Yes v3g, AnyDVD was installed on all the pc's I tested the e220 on, except for the one pc in which case the e220 worked. (Took me rather long to figure out it must be AnyDVD  ) Thanks for your invite, I will keep it in mind...

Ive had something similar when I installed Bluetooth program which captured all the unused ports for itself..A bugger to find and to resolve..
Thanks for the heads up on AnyDVD...
