Somalian pirates at it again.

My ex was a captain for Swire Pacific.. They used to get locked in the kitchen fridges while their ships goods got pilfered.. That is why the SA navy is making such a scene now for more money, from what I understand, as these pirates are coming closer and closer to our borders every month..

yes? no?

Aaarg matey!

Be leavin dem alone, else it might be your cutlass be broken in twine!

On Monday, the European Union launched a security operation off the coast of Somalia - its first-ever naval mission - to combat growing acts of piracy and protect ships carrying aid agency deliveries.

The might of the EU navy. Seriously EU Navy = JOKE.

Problem with these pirates are that if they get caught, the weapons get taken and they have to release them because nobody is willing to take them into custody. They have no fear because they know they are basically untouchable.

Pretty simple patrol the water and kill the bastids, a few hundred dead pirates might put some fear into their business.

Now that is real piracy, not this fake piracy of bits and bytes that the industry gets so upset about.

I say let them go. Take away guns and boats and turf them overboard.

Yea i agree man :), pity they let them go with their boats. Amazes me in life how they give these people a chance. I mean who would know if they left them in the middle of the ocean with cuts so the sharks can have a good meal.

Black Lagoon is on Animax. Over the weekends they show Season 2. Do watch it! Its what glamourous modern day piracy is about - money, women (albeit warped ones)
and fast speedboats on clear, blue seas. :)

This is hectic, Stolt vessels are parcel tankers so it is probably carrying chemicals or petroleum products of some sorts. The problem with this situation is the owners keep paying the randsoms but there is nothing they can do, they need their vessel back and basically there is no other way of getting it back. Also Somalia has no government, so these pirates have nothing to worry about and they are probably making good money. It's just a matter of time before they sink one of these ships.

Seems like a money making opportunity to me.

I am sure that it wouldn't take much to hire a few Executive Outcomes types to travel on these ships through the Somali waters. Skinny with RPG bobbing about on a motor boat versus .50 cal on ship. Guess I know who I'd bet on.

i reckon that is an option hey, you could charge like $5000 to escourt the ship through and make a killing (excuse the pun)
