Once again, the point is there is no clear definition of hybrid. You're thinking of hybrid in terms of being able to blend power sources, but there is no clear guideline that this is the correct definition.Sustainable are saying the Growatt and Axpert MKS is a Hybrid and they definitely are not. I have an Axpert and it's 100% an Off-Grid inverter.
This isn't a case of who is right and who is wrong, it is that there are multiple accepted uses of the term.I would take Segen Solar's word over Sustainable's, but like I said up to you who you think knows more about Solar Power products.
You are getting too stuck on labels and terminology even though it has been proven that they are being used loosely. We discussed The King and the VM Iii and I thought it was settled, the King as well as the VMIII has what is called the SUB priority option, when it is selected the inverter can power from solar, if Solar is not enough it Wil power the loads from solar and utility, the other standard Axperts has only the SBU priority option, it can power loads through solar and battery.Blends PV and Battery. Just not PV, Battery and Grid.

Sustainable are for sure using "Hybrid" for units that are Off-Grid, the Growatt is an Off-Grid inverter https://www.sustainable.co.za/growatt-spf-5000tl-hvm-p-5kva-5kw-48v-hybrid-inverter-with-wifi.html

It’s actually an easy test to make, run a load that requires AC supply and if it completely switches over to the Grid it’s an Off-Grid.
If the DC still produces with the AC then it’s a “Hybrid”.
The standard Axpert can run a load that requires AC directly from Solar, I am not sure what you are saying here, As long as Solar is enough it will never switch to utility.My Axpert has those options too. That just sets the priority.

By all accounts the King does blend solar with gridI do have the SUB priority setting, it typically used when you prefer to reserve the battery as a last resort, this is ideal if you want to save your battery for Load Shedding but in context of solar this option is for the grid-tied setups with a small backup because they might be using all their consumption during peak sun.
Perfect for a manufacturing company that wants a backup only as an emergency. I’m sure there are many other cases.
I’ve been in the situation where I depleted my UFO 4.8kwh battery because I was running my irrigation pump and pool pump in the evening, I was woken up by the sound of my alarm at 4am because my battery ran dry and it switched to grid but because it was load shedding I lost all power. I now make sure I have enough battery by physically switching to grid in the evening so the battery can charge up, I only do this if I’ve got 20% left in the bank.
The problem is that you have to set it to SUB (Solar Utility Backup) you’re kind of stuck with it, I set as SBU and manually switch over. The King will 100% do this BUT it won’t blend the AC and DC, the beauty with the Goodwe is that you can have a very fine tuned setting where you can decide that you want to reserve 60% of your battery then switch to grid until it’s back to 100% the use the 40%.
I hear you, but what does the inverter do when it is on SUB, it is by its own definition supposed to blend AC and solar plus battery on SUB, does it not do what it claims to be capable of?
