Hi Guys

I am need of your brain power. One of the computers on our network, can 't load websites, firefox will say "found site", and then "waiting for xxxxxx.com....". Nothing happens after this. I have found that some sites do load, but google doesn't, so I don't think it is a java error. I plugged in a 3g modem, and found that all sites load perfect. So it must be a problem with the LAN settings.

A year ago, I had the same problem with another computer on the same network, and found that there was something wrong with the packet being sent, or something like that, can't remember 100% what the fix was. I did download a program which tweaked the settings.

Any ideas?

PS. I have ran a anti spyware and anti virus, but to no prevail. I also have uninstalled all firewalls.

Probably a problem with the DNS servers you're using. Experienced a similar problem. Change your DNS to an alternate DNS server

Hi, thanks for the reply. The router, as well as the PC, is set to OpenDNS's address, and all the PC's on the network use the same DNS address.

try a different browser, check NIC drivers.
Otherwise use wireshark and see whats actually happening with the packets?

Hi Guys

OK, I have gone as far as formatting the PC, and re-installing XP. Still the internet is very slow, on that computer only, all the other computers on the network, are running at normal internet speeds. Any more advice?

Faulty network card or faulty port on switch/router?
