Some Wii Questions...

Been debating whether or not to save up for a Wii for a while now, but it seems that prices are not coming down much at all :(

In fact, the Wii seems to be more expensive than it was when it first came out. What is up with that? :(

Also, are the games still R400+?
And when is the Wii2 coming out? Don't want to splash out on a Wii with all the accessories and then the next week they bring out a new version :o

Any Wii fanbois out there like to comment?
 
Wii 2 wont be out for a very long time.

Games are more than R400 - certain ones.

Good news on the Wii2 front but they really need to bring down the price on the existing games if you ask me.

The console + an extra controller is like R3500 already :(
 
Sorry Henry, but the bad news is that the list price of the Wii just went up to R3699, and that's without the extra controller. All things considered about the Wii that price is totally unjustified, considering what you get.

On the other hand, if the rumours are true (well, it's barely a rumour, you can see the thing at the link below!), the Xbox 360 will be getting Wii like controls of it's own later this year called the "Newton" (http://www.motusgames.com/page_6dof.html) The 360s start at only R2000. Heck even the "Pro" model is only R3000, R700 less than a Wii, and you'll be able to play wii type games, and the more cinematic/high end sort as well.

Wow, if that is true about the wii-like controllers for the X-box, and they can live up to and perform like the Wii, then Nintendo are gonna have to make a plan!

So that's R5000 for a Wii, extra controller and WiiFit. Not cool :|

Well Nintendo could just ramp up production and cut the cost of the Wii. The only reason it's so expensive now is because of the supply/demand situation. And I for one am waiting with baited breath for the release of Viva Pinata 2 /end sarcasm.

Some people believe that Nintendo deliberately limits the supply of the Wii to heighten the appearance of demand. Though the demand is plenty high as it is.


But anyway I just don't care if 360 puts out a Wii style controller (though if they made it compatible with all their games it would be pretty sweet). They are never going to take over Nintendo's market and Nintendo's first party games are the main reason to buy a Wii anyway.

I think this is where a lot of people are missing the point with why the Wii is selling so well. It's not just the Wii type controllers, it's the games as well. People buy Wii's cause the games are fun, not cause they're realistic and good looking. I've played more Mario Kart on the Wii than I've played Dirt and Forza 2 on the Xbox combined.
 
All comes down to what the games are you will be playing. Fun, mindless, 'oh-my gawd-I'm-bored-2 days-later type games for the Wii ....... or WOW for the Xbox :D And that's not just a fanboi view .... everyone I know who got a Wii is now bored to death with it (except the ones with kids, they love it) and complaining that it's too kiddy.










(and of course the Xbox is that much cheaper :D)

I gotta agree man. That is why I can't justify the almost double price of the wii. The novelty effect wears out pretty quickly and then you are left with limited and expensive games....Meh.
 
I have had my Wii for almost 2 years. I have a Xbox 360 as well. The Wii has never once ''worn'' off. I love it too bits.

Iv said in some other thread, that the Wii is more fun than the Xbox cos more people can njoy it at once.

I agree with the price of the Wii, it's definitely too much. But why do you say the games are limited? And the Xbox games are more expensive than the Wii's games, so you probably won't be able to afford those as well?

I just mean that it seems that as well as being expensive, there are not that many games out for the Wii. And those that are are not all suited to the Wii's controls...
 
They're only expensive because we're in South Africa. *mutters under breath*
 
SA is not really that expensive.
Wii on amazon.com is $314 excl p&p. and the amazon.co.uk is Pounds180.

The US one is slightly cheaper by about R400.
