Greetings all, and compliments for the new year.

So for the past two years (at least), there appears to be someone attacking my home network. This includes my laptop, my kids desktops, as well as every other device that’s connected on my home network including smart TV’s etc.

Symptoms;
My laptop starts behaving in a weird manner from time to time, the moment I restart, it goes always for a while and then it’s back. Sometimes while working, the laptop simply switches off completely! (This is the third laptop that’s doing the exact same thing).

My kids desktops, same story - behaves weirdly from time to time, and just freezes up. Again, I’ve just replaced one of those desktops with a newer spec device and still does the same.

Netflix on my smart TV also just cuts off from time to time and goes back to DSTV. Sometimes while loading a movie it takes forever and then reverts back to DSTV.

A lot of times while browsing (even on my iPhones or iPads) I get the message (your connection is not private).

There are times when things work well… this is clearly when this moron is not focusing his attacks on me.

I have Zone Alarm with firewall on all Windows devices, and my sons gaming PC (the oldest device) has over 22000 attacks blocked.

I’m not an advanced user, and would really appreciate it if someone can share any information on how to stop this moron, or expose this person to the law or even provide or refer to someone who can get this person or persons out of my life.

Thank you in advance.

Netflix on some older Samsung smart TV has been doing the exact thing you're mentioning, updating also fails, I suspect Samsung trying to EOF those devices, try a cheap tv box on them, your computers are a bit more interesting but it doesn't sound like a person hacking you, more like having some type of malware that keeps copying itself across your home network, maybe a NAS?

On the surface it doesn't sound like anyones hacking your network, just day to day tech issues

Get a friend or someone that knows what they doing to come check your stuff out

Trust me it’s a person carrying this out… as this problem goes a bit deeper than what was mentioned.

If someone can refer an expert who can sort this matter out I would be grateful.

Do you have a kid who is over the age of 12?

You have been watching too many Hollywood movies. Highly unlikely you are being hacked.

Probably multiple issues at play and you blame a hacker. :unsure:

Check your router logs, you will probably find your line dropping.
Machines crashing/rebooting - are they patched? Do you keep them to date? Maybe you have a electrical issue?

Those are not symptoms of "hacking". They're most likely software or hardware issues.

If you're that worried about hacking, change your router and WiFi passwords.

* Stop surfing dodgy site?
* Kick the smart TV off your network - or at least place it on a guest network
* Switch off management of your router from the WAN side
* make sure the firewall on your router is enabled
* Scan your network for unknown devices and block them
* Kids install all kinds of *** on their computers. Reformat and re-install (or do a proper deep clean)
* Create the kid a new user account (without admin right, or at least link kids existing Windows account to Microsoft Family account with parental control / permissions)
* Use a free "family protection" / filtering DNS rather than your ISP DNS. Easy list to pick from: https://kb.adguard.com/en/general/dns-providers

And all the other stuff mentioned above
