Someone keeps hacking my network

1st I would run Mawlarebytes free on all the PC's, post all scan results here and delete all detected issues. Once that's done select a PC that "shuts off the most" disconnect it from the network and see if it still shuts off.

If it does then i think you have an electrical issue or it could be overheating? Install HWinfo32 to monitor cpu temps, have it run in the background and monitor maximum CPU temp.

Pihole is an excellent name resolution solution for home use that can mitigate against malware and adware.
It's highly recommended.
Just for interest, I found adguard home to be better

EDIT: corrected

The op's symptoms sound like the antics of those super sht Telkom rebranded ADSL routers of yore, totally fong kong and random.

Has the op tried a decent router thus far, Is say that's first port of entry?

Greetings all, and compliments for the new year.

So for the past two years (at least), there appears to be someone attacking my home network. This includes my laptop, my kids desktops, as well as every other device that’s connected on my home network including smart TV’s etc.

Symptoms;
My laptop starts behaving in a weird manner from time to time, the moment I restart, it goes always for a while and then it’s back. Sometimes while working, the laptop simply switches off completely! (This is the third laptop that’s doing the exact same thing).

My kids desktops, same story - behaves weirdly from time to time, and just freezes up. Again, I’ve just replaced one of those desktops with a newer spec device and still does the same.

Netflix on my smart TV also just cuts off from time to time and goes back to DSTV. Sometimes while loading a movie it takes forever and then reverts back to DSTV.

A lot of times while browsing (even on my iPhones or iPads) I get the message (your connection is not private).

There are times when things work well… this is clearly when this moron is not focusing his attacks on me.

I have Zone Alarm with firewall on all Windows devices, and my sons gaming PC (the oldest device) has over 22000 attacks blocked.

I’m not an advanced user, and would really appreciate it if someone can share any information on how to stop this moron, or expose this person to the law or even provide or refer to someone who can get this person or persons out of my life.

Thank you in advance.
Are you with Webafrica?

Trust me it’s a person carrying this out… as this problem goes a bit deeper than what was mentioned.

If someone can refer an expert who can sort this matter out I would be grateful.
Does it happen when you;
1. Fight with your kid(s)?
2. Don't let them get/do something they want?
3. Where are they when things start playing up?

You could have: https://www.csoonline.com/article/3090960/11-signs-your-kid-is-hacking-and-what-to-do-about-it.html

Maybe your teenage boy's popping autopwn on metasploit in their bedroom instead of porn.

daaammn that model number brought back some headache memories. didn't know those routers were still being used, different era

You are right about thermal shutdown. Its a big and overlooked problem. Usually I rely on SNMP polls to measure it but lately I have been using something called uptime kuma.
You can configure a pi and run docker for it. Same pi can run docker pihole. All I need to do is develop a push script for temperature. Have done one for speedtest but will do the temperature one and see who it works.

The granddaddy is https://www.reddit.com/r/TronScript/
You just need a couple of hours. It scrubs more vigorously than omo!

Oops... Autocorrect screwed me over. Adguard Home yes. I'll correct my post.
Haven't ever used that but it looks extensive. They don't have a local CDN presence so no. Like zoom. Bliksems must word wakker.
I actually have ublock origin in my browser as a fail safe. My own internet runs through a hardened debian buster stack that has threat intelligence. The closet consumer class stack would be the ASUS merlin (as an alternative) which has some decent ability to customize,

Read a bit of the thread.
If this was a hacker, you need to think what they have to gain out of doing this.

1. They are young and its funny to be annoying. This wears off pretty soon and they are likely to become increasingly annoying to the point of obvious. There is very little reward here besides the initial laugh

2. They are legitimate. In which case they would want compensation for their time. Either by trying to capture data, do advanced phising etc or via things like ransomware deployment. None of these are likely in what you are describing.

You have some tech issues, a possible infection or an annoying child in the house who finds it funny to mess around with you

50 bux says its the teenager living there that is a brat and needs a good hiding
