Me 2, calls are way more expensive on an Apple phone than a crappy blackberry.

The difference in amount is sub 1c...it actually works out to around 0.003c which isn't even worth the service provider mentioning. To put it simply - all phones have different ways of sending and receiving a signal - the iphone (and a few others) require a small boost in a particular frequency range in order for the signal to be coherent...so service providers have to:

a.) implement the automation of that particular range boost in their systems when a call is going to/from that device (which costs money to develop & update as new phones make further such demands)
b.) offset the electrical cost of that small boost. It might seem like such an insignificant amount of electricity required for that alteration to the signal, but add that up for a few million calls a month and they need to recoup that cost somehow = the 0.003c you get charged.
 
I don't own an Apple because of this very reason. Making calls from an iPhone is incredibly expensive in comparison to a Nokia. But the real cost difference is with the data pricing. Every time you use data with an Apple it costs about 21% more, as those are Apple's royalty fees for the networks to use their technology on the phone.

It's quite ridiculous...

The argument is based solely on the cost to make a phone call.
 
Please don't make a fuss about it, if you do then Apple will just pull out of the country.
 
Because my s4 is rooted I am able to spoof my phone's identity. The networks see it as chuck Norris and do not charge me at all. They also dare not drop my calls.

You guys should try the fake Blackberry dialer app on you iPhones it makes the network think you are using a blackberry and your calls work out cheaper.
 
I'm really glad the knowledgeable forum members are in here spreading this information. This topic hasn't been discussed enough and needs more airtime to bring it to the attention of the general public.

Still more expensive.

I disagree with saor's perspective on this. He's forgotten to include the cost of carrying the signal through the augmented delivery mechanisms in the iPhone, upon which more signal boosting takes place, at which point it takes more bandwidth from the cell tower, so the networks have to pass on that additional cost. There are also royalties for using this technology, as we've seen with the recent Apple lawsuits. They weren't all about rounded corners...
