I have a laptop with a preloaded windows 8 single language, then came the free upgrade to 8.1 and now the upgrade to windows 10.

I first try downloading it from the "get windows 10" it was reserved and ready so i downloaded it and then during the install i had the errorcode Someting (f%cking) Happened!! So i tried downloading the iso, the single language one and burned it to a dvd, and now everytime at 24% i get the same message Something Happened, i choose the option keep files and settings, already tried some online fixes like changing locale, disable al running stuff etc etc.

Nothing works, i have 140 gb free space, 6 ram memory so that should be fine.

After trying for 10 times and getting really frustrated here  i ask you peeps here for help.

Does anybody has/had the same problem and how do/did you fix it.

Try this, control panel > language settings > region > English (United States).

You have to copy it to the other region settings too. Can't remember the exact place - (Aministrative tab I think -all settings must show English US. When Windows 10 is installed you can change it all back to English South Africa.

Building on this, have you tried following this: http://www.askvg.com/fix-something-happened-error-message-in-windows-10-upgrade/

It's not your hardware, it's a software issue, I also had no way of upgrading, the ONLY way was to upgrade from Windows 8.1 was to run the setup.exe in the Windows~BT folder.

run the setup.exe in the Windows~BT folder.... I have downloaded the windows 10 single language x64 iso, do you mean that setup.exe?,burned it on a dvd, so if i now change the language and region to english united states and copy the settings to everything else, than it should work? or am i forgetting something again.

MS makes it seems so easy but i struggle.....
