Son got perma banned

If your son is playing GTA:5 you have worse problems on the horizon than a permaban.

Some people should have been castrated at birth.
 
I emptied out lobbies and never got more than warning (proud owner of a dunce cap). I think he might have gotten frustrated with the slow leveling or the fact that the game really makes your work for money. He either downloaded a mod menu as @Bryn said or he exploited glitches.

Explain to him why whatever he did was wrong (don't get physical or even raise your voice )

If it's just killing someone, it's not really griefing. It's within the confines of the game's design - the other guy needs to make a plan to not die. Maybe spawn somewhere else or whatever.

There's something more to the story. Maybe modding, being abusive etc.
 
Wait, you want to discipline your child because of his game play and that he got perma banned? o_O

WTF has the world come to :D

Get him his own steam account and so what if he get's banned. It's his game I guess :D

Backstory: Just over a month ago I got an email, my Rockstar account received a 30 day ban. So I get home and ask my son what he did to get the ban. Apparently he was playing GTA V and some person was killing his buddy. So he retaliated and killed this other player over 20 times or so. That player complained, and he got the ban.

Fine. I don't take any action, cause he learnt his lesson right? I also inform him that their policy is that on a second offence you get perma banned.

This weekend the 30 day ban ends, and he's as happy as a pig in sh*t.

Today I get another email. My rockstar account has gotten a permaban! I'm a bit surprised.
So I haven't spoken to him yet or told his mom, but like WTF dude?!

Should I reprimand him? Should I lock him out of my steam account? Should I just leave it and assume his young mind assimilates this ban in some way that he learns something?

On a side note, he want's his own gaming PC, which based on his recent behavior is a big fat NO.

TLDR: Son got a perma ban, should I as a parent do anything?

Shouldn't your son be 18 to play GTA V? Nevermind already answered.

Physical doesn't work with him anyway, he just gives you a blank stare like "Is that the best you can do?"
I know he uses mods on the offline game, maybe he forgot to switch it off...who knows.
