Sony admits PSN hacking

No network is hacker proof however as time goes buy , security holes will be blocked and so forth.

All that happened here was that Sony had a security hole and it was exploited. I believe that Rebug was a cause of that but only because the developers had unencrypted access. Give it some time and things will go on as usual.

This is just a in your face to Sony to pluck what they should have a long time ago.

Rebug FTW and all the other CFW.

Wishful thinking but wish they could just settle and hire the guy / group that did this to better protect them, surely this makes business sense in the long run :)

Ouch! Dangerous game messing with hacking community, glad I never put any personal information on the interwebz...

No! not even on forums! :)

I bet he has total control on all the info all the banks, credit agencies and recruitment agencies he ever used, not to even talk about the info you gave the tax man.

If you have any info, chances are its on a pc on a network somewhere, hell even that dumb phone Rica'ed is spitting info out about you by the truckload. I looove paranoid tin foil hat people, they make such easy targets.

You kidding right?

Nope... not living in a steel room with tin foil hat, simply don't see any reason to share anything with people I've never met before. My social networking accounts completely locked down and blank, only share info with friends and even that is pretty sad, only friends with people that I consider friends! All search engines comes up with zero results when I "google" myself.

Me again like the gullible that answer any private question on a "application" as asked for, they may even fill in where it ask for "Sex: "about two times per night". Those probably make up the biggest portion of the PSN millions that had all their details stolen. Shiite, you only need to fill in the minimum necessary for what is required at the time. Be Anonymous :) unless like with Rica you have no choice due to law, even if you know well in advance the government or their servants is going to abuse or sell that information. I have more spam ever since I filled in Rica recently than ever before in ten years combined.

Agreed I dont fill in everything about me everywhere, but also at the same time I am not totally paranoid trying to hide my existence from the world. I do have a Facebook profile that I created and never use, that's just so that other people dont do it for me. I dont have my Phone and address on it but age sex and a odd picture is enough. I dont go out and thinking hackers cant get to me, but the amount of info I fave is enough to prove that I am who I say I am if I need to prove it.

i suspect you guys may be talking about different levels of sharing information.

for instance, i have a gmail address for forum logins. and i never fill in anything more than the required. which is what i suspect you may be talking of. which i suspect a good deal of people do.

i actually even deleted my original psn profile (as i had originally signed in with my main account).

God ive been reading about this ALL week. We get it even BIG CORPORATIONS like Sony can get fingered, but why would someone go ou of his way to do something like this.. Thats what I wanna know. IF its not those anonymous oukes I mean

Personal information is worth lotsa $$$...

According to the email I got from Sony, the hackers may have obtained passwords too. How on earth is that possible? I wouldn't it's possible even for Sony themselves to have your plain text password. Arent these things hashed?

Fortunately the best they can get from me is my email address and it's password is strong and differs from my psn one. My spam folder might see a bit more scam mail but that's about all they going to get.

it's interesting that i received an email on an account that i had deleted from my ps3. so i am guessing while i can setup an account on the ps3. to delete it i need to jump through extra hoops?
