Sony boosts Playstation3

haha i spent R2000 on a great 2nd hand PS3 and just put a 200gb hard-drive in and im smiling!! :D

The move may also end backward compatibility with the Playstation2 for games as Sony focuses on the larger capacity Playstation3.

How does upgrading a HDD end backward compatability? Or is this just an ambiguous statement?

The article says it 'may.' I say he 'may' also be talking crap. :p
Some new software on the drive maybe?

I think the whole move of bringing a new SKU will end the backward compatability since Sony will just drop the PS2 support to make up for the bigger HDD, but then again they might just add softwre emulation at least.

Still better to just get a PS3 for as cheap as you can and then put your own HDD in there ;D

Gimmicky if you ask me...

80GB Retail - R430
160B Retail - R512
Difference in Rands: R82
Difference in Dollars: $11

Why does Sony not keep up with the times and upgrade to what is just becoming the standard entry level drive size instead of just responding to a move by Microsoft. Seems like Microsoft is still leading the road ahead...
