Yip the price for a PS3 console is outrageous. R4500 or something like that. I don't want a home entertainment system, I want a gaming beast. And since there is no PS3 for under R2000 I decided to go with the xbox360 (game quality wise they equal if you ask nuetral parties. Fanboi's for both sides will say one is better than the other ).

blame south africa for that high price here in the uk, xbox's and PS3 are the same price... 200 pounds,

That is actually incorrect Doomie61 :

In the UK, a top of the range xbox costs 181 pounds (roughly)
and a PS3 costs 280 pounds...

Thats a fairly significant difference.
