Maybe it's best to hold off with the new firmware update & then you don't have to sulk anymore. :)

It would seem SE fixed a truckload of bugs in the apps, but then faaked up the 'phone bit' of the P990i.

re the 'sent' messages folder - you cannot create such a folder for 'sent' sms's, only for inbox sms's ( this applies to the new firmware, yes I did the upgrade ! :) )

Google ' sms diary ' - it's freeware available on my-symbian - you can archive sms's any way you like with that and save them as html pages to the phone :)

Hey kingrob, sorry to hear about your problems. I have a suggestion but you have probably used it already so just tell me to shut up and sit down if you have!!!:) Have you tried this procedure: master reset + firmware update + master reset+ synchronizing only with outlook or notes, do not use the back up service on the pc suit to restore the phone as the bug could be transfered back onto the "clean" fone. most of the people on esato have tried this and it seems to work for them as most of them have reported no more issues (apart from mem leak). Did you experience any flickering on the screen before or after firmware update?:confused:

I've read about the whole procedure, but will wait till the weekend before I attempt that. :)

Not seeing any flickering on my screen, wonder if it's only visible when your screen res is very high? Mine is at 65%.

A very happy and * belated* birthday to the king :p

Haven't yet had my phone crash on me with the new F/W....like the memory management more. Don't see any appreciable increase in UI speed though.

( Keep your eyes and ears open today...rumour has it Steve Jobs may well announce the new Apple iPhone at the Macworld expo... ) for those of you looking for a P1000 !

* I'm still very happy with my phone ;)

PS hats off to all of you for keeping this thread going especially to kingrob who'se doing a great job holding up his end of the thread !

I think everyone is expecting Steve Jobs to announce the iPhone today - would be very interesting to hear the specs!

Still love my P990i, but I think we're two or three major firmware updates away from a fabulous phone! Really hope the claims that the phone's memory controller is faulty, is not true...

*This year the king will try and convince the queen not to stick out her tongue at him in public, the humble servants might see this as a sign of weakness from the king. Also, the advice given to the king by his doctor, doesn't seem to be working.... :(

Found another problem with new firmware. While on a call to retrieve a contact i normally pressed more then scrolled down to task manager then selected Contacts. Now it doesn't allow me to select task manager.:mad:
