Welcome MyP990........

Nice to see yet another P series enthusiast ;)

Your best bet would be to pay a visit to the SonyEricsson shop at Vodaworld. Don't really know of any other suppliers.

*Oh, BTW, I want that new SonyEricsson watch. Maybe go to Vodaworld on Saturday... ;)

I was there today buying a car charger. I didn't think of the bluetooth headset until after lunch...I'll call them in the morning! :D

I don't want to pay through my teeth for it either, specially seeing as Expansys would sell it to me for 60GBP (they just won't ship it here)

Mind you, don't write off the MTN shops.

I bought the original SonyEricsson car charger from my local MTN shop here in Southdowns, Irene & they also had the original SE battery, bluetooth headsets, etc.

Don't think they'll stock the SE watch, but who knows?

How much did you pay for your Original SE Car Charger?

I shopped around:

Vodashop Sandton: R259
Vodashop Hyde Park: R149 (only had 1 in stock, and I needed two)
SE Shop (Vodaworld): R159

2 of us in my house have P990i's :D one of us (me) know's how to use it...

Edited to add: Mine is an MTN phone - but I'm on vodacom (hence my vodashop shopping, old habits you know). Only -ve is I lose my extra warranty (but I hardly keep a phone for more than a year anyways...) and not having that bloody voda firmware is 100% better! (the 2nd phone here is a voda one, crashed 3 times already...and I'm still running fine and using my phone alot more!)

Yes, MTN P990i's are straight from SonyEricsson, basically 'generic' phones.

Think my car charger was R180 - I bought it in December last year.

Hey. I left this forum for quite some time after I got a voda P990i and managed to get vodacare to remove the vodafone software and revert it back to generic software.

Whatever happened to that whole thing? Did someone high up decide to stop that?

Think Vodafone got too many complaints/returns about unstable P990i's.

The guys at Vodacare Bloem told me that they sent 12 p990s back after hanging up on boot. Friend of mine uses voda p990 on mtn. complains about haning and crashes on a daily basis.

My p990 is fine. MTN p990 on MTN.

@myp990

I use a JabraBT620s stereo bluetooth headset - cost me R899. work very nicely. controls : play/pause/stop ; track fwd/bck ; volume up down; and make call break call;

got it vrom vodashop Bloem.

cheers

Hanno.

aNybody know of an app that would allow me to type SMS on my Pc and then send via my p990 ?

Had something on my motorola that could do that.

A lot faster to type sms on pc keybord.

Yes, Motorola Phone Tools are quite cool - love my Razr.

I'm afraid there's nothing for the P990i yet...would've been cool if it was included in the PC Suite.

Yes, the P990i is indeed a fantastic phone, and if they sort out the firmware bugs & release a higher capacity battery, it will be the best mobile phone I've ever owned. Guess I can live with the battery, got the SE car charger.... :)

My phone is on it's second day, bluetooth on, usual calls and sms's and some playing around too - and I've still got 28% left. :D I can't complain. It's better than my N80 ever was.

My only complaint, when I took my N80 on contract - I got a free bluetooth car kit with it- not knowing a P990i was in my future, they installed a Nokia bluetooth carkit. (I was never offered a Parot). The carkit works fine if I make a call - but when receiving, it always disconnects the call 7 seconds in (no matter if I answer using the phone, or the button). Set the car kit as authorized, under the audio attachment bluetooth menu but it don't work.

Any solutions?

hi broken1

Is this with the newest firmware update (R4A13)? I know the previous version had some blueteeth issues.

Hi there

I am about to get my P990. I can order accessories at the same time and have them delivered. What can you guys recommend. Remember that this will need to be things stocked by MTN as this is where the order is being placed. Spare battery? Car charger? Spare charger? Screen protector-- do they stock any? What have you found lacking, or what would be useful?
