Sony Ericsson P990i

Just out of curiosity, do any of you do backups with the PC Suite before doing a firmware update? Do you restore your backups after and find that everything runs smoothly? Or do you get issues with using backup restore?

I've done one or two backups, but really don't see the use for it. All my music, pictures, etc stored on my memory stick duo & if I want my contacts back, I just pop my P990i in the cradle and sync with Outlook.

As easy as pie. :)
 
Things I still want for my P990i :

1. Better battery (rumours of a BST-40 battery)

2. 8GB Memory Stick Pro Duo Highspeed (will most probably cost an arm & a leg!)

3. Stable firmware & all bugs sorted out

*Very impressed with Swiss Manager 1.3, my phone is now on day three, without a 'reboot'!

Still love my P990i... :)

When I receive sms's the time shows two hours before i received the message. Went on to device settings and Location looked for south Africa but Nufffing. Anyhoo I have been reading this thread but had nothing useful to say. So maybe I should but a (.):D on every page just to let you know that I'm still around. (that is if you care)

Oh Oh before I sign off my time seems to be changing it's self. Maybe just a setting. Was almost late for work because of it. When i go to bed the time is perfect, but in the morning about two hours backward. Thanks in advance fore your help

My settings is on 'Central African Time' & Pretoria is my city - it's GMT +2 hours.

P990i time management / display is known to be confusing. There was also some reported Alarm bug which they fixed in the latest firmware update.

My phone is also set to Central African Time, with Pretoria as selected city. That's the only SA city they list.

Your time should not change by its own. Potential bug or app that might be the cause.
 
SMS to Groups on P990?

Hi all! 3 weeks to my new P990 - just enough time for one more firmware release, and DaVinci Team to get the unbranding right! ;) I can hope can't I? Decided to wait for Feb 7 to see what the new prices are at Vodacom, and then upgrade.

One of the big frustrations for me on the P910i was that I could assign each contact to only one group. Is it possible on the P990 to be able to assign someone to multiple groups? e.g. if Bob is my Buddy, plays Golf with me, and is on my Work Team, can I assign him to "Buddies", "Golfers" and "Work Team", so that when I send out a group SMS to any one of these groups, he is included?

Swiss Manager: Worth Getting the Pro Version

Hi all - sounds like SM is great, especially new 1.3 version... with the normal version being free, are there any "killer features" that make getting the pro version worth the price?

Thanks for all the help. Managed to sort it out. I had it on Pretoria before i did the upgrade. But had a bit of a blond moment.

Yes, you can assign a contact to more than one group. :)

I'm just using the free version of SM 1.3 & don't see the need for the pro version, but if you want to compare, go here :

Where is the best place to get SE Accessories? I want the Stereo Bluetooth Headset with Remote http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=za&lc=en&ver=4000&template=pip1&zone=pp&pid=10394

It's basically a stereo headset module, with a remote at the end with an LCD, that you can see caller ID's or music info, change tracks, volume etc.

Exansys.co.uk had it, around R1000 inc shipping - but they won't ship to SA due to our "high import duties and risk"

Hi & a warm welcome! Apologies for the queen, she is sometimes (think it should be most of the time) very busy.... :)

I think that small square like shape is indicating when your P990i camera's flash is ready to use.

Your best bet would be to pay a visit to the SonyEricsson shop at Vodaworld. Don't really know of any other suppliers.

*Oh, BTW, I want that new SonyEricsson watch. Maybe go to Vodaworld on Saturday... ;)
