Sony Ericsson P990i

How long is the warranty good for? Even though Vodacom may have issues, won't SE still honour the warranty?
 
Rather just buy unbranded stock, Vodacom (Vodafone) are a bunch of idiots...

anythingc, do you believe it will be cheaper to buy the phone rather than on contract? I'd consider this, but my quick calculations gave me the idea that it would be more expensive (over 22 months) to buy the phone cash...

I had info from SE this morning that we will receive 2000 units by the 10th and a further 3900 units by the 20th of November.

MTNDD, the new stock will certainly be welcome. Since MTN have started distribution, surely the prices and packages are available by now. If so, please post or PM me. JayN:cool:

Thanks MTNDD for your quick response on the stock query. I contact MTN about a week ago and they said that i would be paying in about R700 on a Pro Call 220. Don't know if this is true. Anyway thanks for the INFO.

Hi

I'm new here but I just thought that I'll let everyone know...
I phoned MTN Direct on 0831233667 and completed an application for the P990i (of which they assured me that they have plenty stock) with a consultant today. I've arranged to go and pick it up from the Midrand warehouse on Monday instead of having it couriered to me (I just can't wait).
BTW, I took a Procall 220 package and the pay-in was R649.

Happy to be able to report I am sitting here with my new P990i on Mtn contract. Just picked it up.
Nashua Mobile Midrand has a few (some of the upgrade staff don't yet know they have them)
Not sure about Vodacom...but MTN sure came through this time. I booked it a while ago..and they kept the price I was quoted (which was rediculously cheap top-up) and so I don't know what you will pay, but I am on procall 120.
I'll post updates about the phone as I start using it. Looks great though :-)

Hi Glock26, how did u pay on the pro-call 120?
 
To be honest...when I phoned last week I got quoted a silly low price and I accepted it and they did the deal pending the phone stock. When they came in today, they had the updated prices on the pc and I should have paid around R1500 or more..but they kept the original price since I was quoted that. Don't want to get more specific about prices than that.

What I can say is that on my last 2 upgrades...you phone for a top-up price on a new phone. They give you a price. Then you say to them.."right...now see what better deal you can give me..I am sure you can do better" and in both cases...there is a frantic typing of keys..and they come back with a number that is less than half the original price. Not sure how much they can play with the prices..but it is obvious they do have some leeway. My last deal in 2004 went from R1800 pay-in to R800 :D Just be very nice and friendly with the person doing the deal.

Not the case this time..I was just given a good quote..but worth remembering.
I am sure MTN Dude knows more about how it works :)

Phone is charging right now. Who has phoned for a quote yet?..and did they say they have stock? I know they have a long back order list to get through..but if you are nice maybe they will jump the queue.

The SP guys deal more with the prices so not to sure how they work with the phones I think retentions have a budget to decide if they can do a better deal for you or not - Not to sure what they have to work with........

Phoned MTN Direct on 0831233667, and spoke to a lady called Brenda.
She has no clue if they have the phone in stock, and on her system, she says there are none.
Asked her if she can PLEASE phone the warehouse and see if there were any stock, she just replied that MTN protocol prevents her from doing so and put the phone down.

I did put my name down as well with a dealer " Corporate Cellular Connection" at the K90 centre in Boksburg. Phoned them as well, and my contact there, said that they had received only 3 last week and has already been given to the first ones on the list. And I was around number 50.

Dont know how long to wait.:(
 
Got mine from Nashua Mobile Midrand.
They should have stock right now. 011 207 8000
If they haven't sold all theirs by now...
