Congrats bro. Enjoy. Can't wait for mine. Placed an order months ago. Spoke to the lady again on Friday, she said about another two weeks before they get stock here in Shelly Beach. Oh Well patients is a virtue.
Phoned MTN Direct on 0831233667, and spoke to a lady called Brenda.
She has no clue if they have the phone in stock, and on her system, she says there are none.
Asked her if she can PLEASE phone the warehouse and see if there were any stock, she just replied that MTN protocol prevents her from doing so and put the phone down.
I did put my name down as well with a dealer " Corporate Cellular Connection" at the K90 centre in Boksburg. Phoned them as well, and my contact there, said that they had received only 3 last week and has already been given to the first ones on the list. And I was around number 50.
Dont know how long to wait.
I spoke to Hawa and Carter who were very helpful.
BTW, I have my phone already... It's unreal. I need time now to play around with it.
It's my first P-Series. I was going to get the P910i but then found the P990i was nearly ready... and ended up waiting from February. The wait's over.
I was at the warehouse and they had so many! i just wanted one though.

Waiting for my new 128k sim to be activated..but been playing with it a bit. Menus are slow..and it is darn complicated. The manual is BIG and it is a big step from the P900. But loving it so far. There are bugs..but all phones have those. You just work around them. Will keep you updated.
Btw -wth is up with no carry pouch? Sheesh...you would think you don't have to carry it around in your pocket or your hand permanently.

As a very happy for 2 years P900 owner I am keen to go with the P990i.
However, can anyone explain the bad press the phone gets, the following link is enough for nightmares about this phone :-

Got my P990i yesterday...it's awesome ! 
Well worth the wait.
Shipped with the latest firmware...the RAM issues ( as discussed on esato and my-symbian ) are largely sorted by installing SwissManager ( freeware from cellphonesoft.com ).
Its fast . Gorgeous screen. Very fast browser.
And yes, MTNDD, it doesn't come with any pouch ( I'd ordered a krusell pouch 2 months ago so I'm sorted !)
PS I paid in R739 ( 649 + VAT ) on a Procall 120 renewal of contract

Activated IR on both phones..and all the contacts zipped across in a few secs.
I tried BT..but for some reason my P900 rebooted every time it tried to link. Not sure what that is about.
Not to sure what to make of all the bug reports. If you don't close the running apps often..you will get the memory issues. But I havent had any yet. My phone doesn't crash when opening the flip while in a contact. So some of the bugs will have been fixed by now, and others will come later.
Not a perfect phone..but I like mine. Getting easier to use as I play with it.
Will have to install SM still...and maybe buy the full version.

Went into the memory manager and saw the Golf game is there. Without installing it..when I went back into the games section..it was there now. Another quirk

How bad is the Jog dial in the 990i compared to the 910i?
Many have said that it has gone from a 5 way to a 3 way jog.
How much functionailty is lost?
I have a serious injury to my right hand making me left handed for some time. I find the 910i very easy to use with this disability. I don't want to find the 990i harder to use with my left thumb.

Re : exporting contacts - save them to SIM - and when new SIM is in phone - copy them to phone.( P910i --> P990i )The jogdial is a fraction smaller than P910i jogdial. Yes it is only 3 way ( up, down, in )
Below it on the left side of the phone is a small, easily depressed " back " key which replaces the functions of " jogdial away " .
So the only functionality lost really is that from pressing the jogdial "forwards" towards the front of the phone ( possibly the least used of the jog functions ?).
I used my P910 daily for over 2 years before this phone and have found it quite easy to get used to this new setup ( being a girl, my hands are quite small, maybe someone with larger hands can also comment ? )
P.S. the build quality is great. The keys on the flip seem to be made of metal and are easy to press, very user friendly. The qwerty kwypad on the phone itself is also of high quality - the keys are chunky hard plastic with satisfying tactile feedback. And the jogdial also feels nice and ' springy ' .

Jogdial is not a worry...the functions are not lost, they are taken over by other easy to use keys as mentioned. 2 days and I don't miss the old jogdial anymore.
Btw..one thing I haven't heard anyone mention is the visibility of the screen in daylight. I am basically unable to see the screen outside in moderate sun. Even with brightness on full, the screen is totally unreadable. Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed this? Maybe I need to play with themes and see if there is a better one?
Spent the whole day trying to get MTN live TV to work...but it just doesn't appear on the page it is supposed to. Almost went nuts. Might be that they haven't updated the webpage with the P990 yet (only shows you content your phone can view) so I have MTN checking on that and hopefully it will be sorted. Otherwise I have no idea why the page does not show a CNN link etc.
Maybe MTN Date Dude has a comment about that?

Nope. I specifically stayed with MTN instead of Vodacom because of the silly Vodafone Live branding. I have heard nothing good about it ever. Maybe Vodacom should listen.

This time they pushed the limits with me, instead of just branding the icons, they branded the entire menu structure!! WTF!!
Now I have wait till Vodacare gets the updated firmware to reflash and unbrand it.
