How many of you are out there?

I must say, this is the first ever Sony Ericsson I have that's on par with Nokia. I think it's even better. I mean. What can be better than a SE Build phone with Nokia firmware??

The 12.1MP camera is awesome. I don't have to carry my 10MP DSLR camera with me everywhere I go. Except for the times I would like to photograph scenery or distant objects.

Cool phone. Thanks SE for not using Windows Mobile on this one.

Looks like a seriously nice phone, love the fact that it's running Symbian OS!

I have one as well. After only owning Nokias', this phone really surprised me. Wife has the n97 and honestly I like the Satio more. It just feels right.

if you love your satio like i do, you will love this site. www.satioworld.com
hacks/cracks/apps/games/navigation and the kitchen sink if you want that too.

I wonder if SE and Nokia will upgrade current Symbian^1 devices to Symbian^3 like HTC and motorola are is bringing android 2 to their devices. Will probably sway me more towards the Satio if that were to happen.

The fact that it doesn't have 3.5mm doesn't really bother me. I'm used to carry a 3.5mm mini jack to rca lead with me when I do sound now I just have to carry the SE one with me. It's also rca on the other end. So no big difference here.

The camera is just amazing.

And when the firmware is hacked you can do so much more.

No wonder they call the Satio the iPhone killer.

Hi, I have to say that I have had T68i i think it was and then the K700i (nice phone) and then the W880i very good.
On the other hand the Satio has a fantastic 12.1 megapixel camera and decent software and menu functionality.

I however think Sony Ericsson made a mistake with the design of this phone, the finish is really cheap plastic and it gets marked/scratched really easily.
The could have done a better job buy using faster CPU - I really think the 600 mhz CPU is a bad choice for this type of phone.

The software is a bit sluggish and i find the screen like to turn too much even when you have the phone held as still and flat as possible.
Touch screen is not that sensitive and it can be annoying.

Its far to expensive on a contract and not worth the money.

I worked it out for my package on MTN 500 i think it is , and it will cost me roughly 15 to 20 thousand RAND in 2 years time - and by that time the phone will probably look like it has been in world war 3.

It really has a bad finish and can get dents easily too.
I have a phone cover for this purpose.

One more thing, the Wise Pilot expires after 30 days and the themes that you get for the phone can also be somewhat buggy and some items are not click-able.

The Track-Is is worse than the Track-ID that comes on the W880i phone.
I also do not understand why the phone has such a lousy soft speaker phone , it is really pointless.

Anybody beg to differ with me?
Please help me with this one...

:) i personally think it was a bad choice phone and im now stuck with it for 1.8 years.

I would really like you to help me understand this last line of your message - ;=(

I'll look at it this way.

I pay R319 per month on my Anytime200 package. I get R200 worth of airtime and also get 25sms's. Ok. The 25sms's adds up to about R20. Not much but lets work it out.

R319 - R200 - R20 = R99.
R99 x 24 months = R2376

On a Anytime500 the figures will look like this:

R500 worth of airtime and 50sms's. The 50sms's adds up to R40

R539 - R500 - R40 = minusR1

So you are not paying anything for your Satio. In fact your getting R1 discount every month on your monthly fee.

The speed of this phone is awesome. When you click on something it's there immediately.

Why use Wisepilot if you can use Nokia OVI Maps for free? And if you download the maps you don't even have to go online while using the GPS.

In my opinion there is nothing wrong with the phone other than me struggeling to find a casing.

hey piesang, long time no argue ;) hehe

was hoping to see you move over to the android side of things.... seems you went the other way .

i would love having a satio...looking out for a good deal...that camera has me drooling..

+1

i use a hip holder for 3g phones. from Makro. can't remember price. works fine for me
i am on talk 120s. buy in was R300.00. R285 x 24 months = R6840.00. where did he get R20000 from?

I have a Satio & its actually a very good phone. The battery does not last more
than 2 days with light use, but many of the touch screen phones these days cannot do much better anyway, esp samsungs.

The touch screen is perfect. I feel that resistive screens are way better than capacitive ones, having used both types. Resistive can be used with finger nails, stylus, pencil, whatever.
Wait till u on Opearmini & us need to click on a small link ( ie, try to go to page 10 of a topic or something) & u using a capacitive screen, u WILL pull out your hair, with a resistive screen stylus its easy. I use both a N97 & Satio & the Satio screen is way better & more accurate ( and bigger).

Getting apps, wallpapers & themes is easy cos it uses Symbian, ie all N97 & 5800 themes will work. Some apps for Nokias do not install however, but i think its got to with expired certificates or having to hack your Satio. For insance, OVI maps 3.3 CAN be installd on a Satio, but the phone hs to be hacked. Navigation is'nt a problem for me cos I still have 18 months on my Garmap that I got with a Samsung S8300 ( which I since sold to buy the Satio).

The camera is really good, not perfect, but good. Sure 12mpx on a phone does not equate to 12mpx on a DSC, but its really convenient having a good
quality camera in your pocket all the time.Vidoe resoultion is very good as well, not HD but thats the Vivaz trick.

Build quality is not up to SE usual high standards, but u just paid in excess of R6000 for a phone, so BE CAREFUL with it, common sense.

Hanging issues seems to have passed me by ( touch wood) but if u have 10 apps & games running in teh backgroud, it WILL place strain on any processor-and 600Mhz is a reasonably powerful thing for a phone when it was released( compared to the 450 for the N97), the newer phones coming now are 700 & above, but u cannot compare new with old

SE dont release updates as quick as Nokia do & SE updates do not have major changes, but hopefully that will change in time.

I had a choice between the N97 & Satio & if i had to choose, I will go with the Satio again

Hi Piesang, can we maybe go through my phone together sometime, i have no idea hoe to install the nokia ovi.
The contract , i can show you mine and im telling you my calls are not much yet my bill is almost 1 grand every month.

I have lost hope with it.
