SONY MG-DDW 5000

Hi All

What do you guys think about Sony DDW-5000 home theater component system. I am planning to buy one. It is expensive but is sound quality good enough for movies and Games.

I bought the 7.2 while waiting for the rand to drop (wishfull thinking) - not 100% impressed with it - but its not bad.
 
I have the DDW-1600 (http://www.sony.co.za/product/ht-ddw1600/sku/ht-ddw1600+sp1 - discontinued - but for the life of me I can't see the difference between the two). Mine is awsome, not as loud as I thought it would be, but definately sufficeint. Sound quality is fantastic. I think i picked mine up on special for about 5K. I plug everything into it, PS2, DVD (optical), DSTV (Optical) and my media player. Can't go wrong, and its sooooo much cheaper than Mirantz an Bose etc...

C'mon, just cannot compare but for 5K its a complete and 120% acceptable solution.

At what price?

I would rather look at this one. I have a 6.2 system, older version, I found it to be great, good enough as you suggestbut now want to upgrade.

I did test 6.2 though at GAME and the sound clarity is great compared to a regular Phillips, samsung and LG's.

So I will go for it

They dont come close ... like comparing the Mirantz and Bose to Sony;)

Shop a round look for the best price on the system, go back to Game and if they don't match the price, they will + a little discount! Even if you find it on internet (locally), just print the page and show them!
 
Great will look around for a lower price. GAME price is 6300 and MAKRO price is 6500

Essentially Makro, Game and Dion Wired (aswell as the Builders Express/Depot shops) are all the same company - there wont be a huge difference in their prices. Check HiFi Corp, they usually beat Game and Makro. But you only need a quote from them and head back to Game:)

yeah, thats my problem - I'm comparing it to Yamaha, setup with Kef speakers :p

Rather get the 7.2 then, the HDMI support is better, and its only R700 more.
