Your "majority" of people do also not have PSP's. You have a PSP with UDM drive? If so whats the problem? Buy the disks. The new PSP do not have a UDM so there we go, you shoot down the new PSP based on your experience with the old one. The experience you created yourself, as you say you missed the boat. Now if you had a PS3 then you would not think its a wasted oppurtunity. Do yourself a favour, sell the damn thing so someone else can enjoy it because he wants too.

I dont see how owning a PS3 will make the PSP better since they are totally different consoles, and its a UMD drive, I get the feeling you post any sony news you find without even knowing any facts about whats in the article.

What do you know, get out of your little Xbox and go read about total Sony integration. Remote play, streaming from PS3 to PSP ect. Even the new Sony Cell phone will have PS3 media streaming features. Yes a media streaming phone. Get out of your dark(X)box and see whats going on in gaming life. So much for being such an an avid "gamer"

October 20, 2006 - Sony Computer Entertainment Gamers Day was not one for those who considered themselves mostly portable games -- the event was used to exclusively show off PlayStation 3 features and games -- but there was one intriguing development for PSP at the event. In a demonstration at the beginning of the event, SCE showed off a PS3 feature called Remote Play, an instant-access ability for the PS3 to be able to send its media out to a PlayStation Portable.

How it works on the PSP side has not been made fully clear (the PSP demonstrated likely was utilizing an update of the PSP software not yet released to the public, although it's possible that the LocationFree feature added in PSP v2.5 was running the functionality), but on the PS3's side, all you had to do was select the menu option under Network and your PSP was free to connect to it. In demonstration, SCEA President Kaz Hirai demonstrated by playing half of a high-def, 1080p trailer for Casino Royale on his PS3 and the gigantic projection screen, then pausing the trailer, switching on his PSP, and playing the rest of the trailer right there on the handheld (complete with playback controls.)

The effect was very cool, but also, the promise this offers PSP is staggering. You are now no longer limited to the size of your Memory Stick for content; instead, whatever you keep on your PS3 can be played on your PSP. That goes for photos, for music, and for videos -- the PSP has full access to the PS3's XMB menu. Clips do not need to be recompressed, so you can use your PS3 as a repository for all your video content, and you can then watch that anywhere in the house. There was not a demonstration of Blu-Ray or DVD video, so we're not sure how robust the feature is on that end, but the trailer that was shown streaming from the PS3 was originally stored at full 1080p. (Quality may still be an issue, as we were not able to get a good view of the video being played to see if it has the same video streaming look as LocationFree Player or if the PS3/PSP connectivity makes for any better an image.) At first, this feature will only be available to connect to through an ad-hoc connection (meaning you can stream video down the hall of the house, about anywhere that your wireless connection can reach), but later updates of the software should allow IP streaming of Remote Play so you can use PSP to get your PS3 content anywhere in the world. Conversely, by the way, PSP can wirelessly connect to PS3 in much the same way and stream its media to the console without hooking in a wire.

Remote Play was not available for demo outside of SCE's event (developer units do not seem to have the ability built in), so we're not sure when we'll be able to see the feature at play next. Look for an update as soon as we're able to test out Remote Play fully.

Stream media from your PC to your PSP via PS3

The current generation of consoles are powerful machines and carry a lot of features so sometimes it's a little hard to keep track of what they can do. Here's one feature a lot of you may not have been aware of but may find useful: stream media to your PSP from your PC via PS3.

To do this you'll need to connect your PC to a PlayStation 3 console to act as the bridge. Using the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA), your PS3 can connect to your PC and share media. Then with Remote Play, you can stream the media to your PSP.

First off, you'll need to connect the PS3 to your PC's home network (you can use an Ethernet cable for this if your connection isn't wireless). Here are the instructions from Sony's Eric Lempel on how to connect it:
On your PC, enable “Media Sharing” on Windows Media Player 11 and allow sharing with the PS3 (it may be labeled as an “unknown device”).
On your PS3, turn on “Media Server Connection” under Network Settings. PS3 will automatically search for media servers on the same home network, or you can scan for them manually.
Your PC and media files will pop up under the Photo/Music/Video XMB icons.
After that you just need to stream your files to your PSP from your PS3 via Wi-Fi. Note that you'll need at least PS3 FW 1.80 for this, but of course FW 2.10 would be the better choice for media playing because of the new DivX support

I know media can be streamed from the PS3 to PSP, but so what? why would i watch a movie on the PSP's small screen when it could be watched on a big tv? Is this so i can watch movies on the toilet?

why would it be useless in this country?

they say that the psp 3000 will still be on the shelves while the psp go is out... doesnt look too bad... a big change moving the buttons off the screen and moving it down below the screen in a slide function..
has bluetooth, which is pretty cool... so you can move photos and crap around devices easier... :)
pretty cool screen.. sony finally got the screen right with the psp 3000.

there is also on board memory (16g if i heard correctly)... thank goodness!

no umd's? wtf?

Yes you can watch your porn in the privacy you need to do what you do best. :p

You can also play games, remote play, via the PS3 and have access to all the PS3 functions like browsing the Internet, online shopping, downloads, You name it (or rather please don't). But as I said in simple life people only see what they realy want to see.

because we have crap internet, being on this forum i thought you would know that, 1gb or more per game, 1 day or more to download, no resale value,
anyone can walk into a store to buy a UMD, most people dont have internet, and most people prefer physical media to digital,
hows mommy going to buy little a PSP game for his birthday? "here son, heres he voucher, now just wait until the end of the month so you can download it".
Not too mention no backward compatability with UMD's, so basically sony decreased their potential market.

yeah, a few games which support it, which only seem to be sony published titles, and of course titles that dont need 2 analogue sticks, and the browsing can be accessed from any wifi spot without the need for a PS3. face it, remote is more of a gimic than anything else and obviously wasnt thought of when they initially designed the psp.
 
Reminds me of little console released in the early nineties.
The atari lynx.A console with the best specs yet failed to deliver.
If i lived in Europe then that sony console would have been awesome.
A pity really.

Only the backward African markets where government priorities are to steal more money than service the public. Thus in Sony context NO market at all.

true, but thats why i said useless here, it will do better overseas, but that depends how sony handles it.
