Sony versus Panasonic camcorder.

Hi All.

I'm looking for some input on deciding between the Sony HDR-CV550 or Panasonic HDC-TM700. I've done some research and am aware of the differences in specifications between the two, as well as some of the general issues some people have with the two products.

Any locals who have some experience with either, or both, of these camcorders that they're willing to share? Any opinions on Sony versus Panasonic camcorders in general are welcome as well.

I think you get better value in general with Panasonic. I have the Panasonic AG-DVX100 and the Sony PMW-EX1. In 2005 Panasonic was the best camera, in 2009 the Sony in the sub $10,000 bracket, it was better than the Pany HVX200 (successor to the DVX100).
