So I searched and didn't see any threads for this beast up yet.

Anyway I just received an SMS from MTN indicating that my application has been approved, so hopefully I'll be getting mine sometime this week. At the moment it seems there is still a bootloader issue, causing the camera to break when unlocked, can't wait for this to get fixed so that we can start rooting our devices.

Please feel free to post here with anything Z1 related.

Different, but great. Battery also lasts more than a day, even with fair use.

Lekker, which color did you take? I forgot to specify but I'll be asking the dealer for a black one. White is okay as well but the black is :love:
 
I haven't had any camera issues from the unlock screen sofar, but then again i updated the firmware the same day that i got it. Currently on 14.1.G.1.534

You misunderstood :) Unlocking your bootloader (in order to flash custom ROMS/Kernels) causes the camera to not work.
 
Venomous do you have a case for your phone yet? It's a bit slippery without one

nope. getting one brought here by a friend returning from Europe tonight.

All local suppliers say only early November, even Vodacom and CellC..
 
I also have the black one, the speed of this device is astounding and i really like the hardware camera button :D
Coming from a SGS4 owner :P
 
Imo photos don't do this phone justice, not by a long shot!
I've done some research before i got this phone and looked at a few reviews and unboxing videos etc, but it truly is something to behold

Hahaha.

True. I's scared that I will drop the phone, and a nasty chip occurs...

Will be happier once it has a cover. Thinking of getting the magnetic charger too...
 
I had a look at the phone at Vodacom world, please do not shoot me, but I was underwhelmed by it. That bezel for me is to big, they say that is because of the camera, but still. Viewing the screen from an angle was not so nice, lost some colour's. What I have read is Sony is using different screen panels some are great other not so great. The rest of the phone seemed nice and it was damn fast. I am due for an upgrade, this was/is my choice, but now I am not so sure now. I have the Xperia TabZ so I am happy with that so far.

Apparently the viewing angles suffer because of the permanent screen protector as well. I've made peace with the various problems I had with the phone. My other choices were the G2 (only comes here Nov), and the N5(god knows when we will be able to get that, and even then it won't be on contract). I desperately needed a new phone since my S2 kicked the bucket, plus the water+dustproof really sold it for me
 
Just got my phone today! Loving it so far. Going to take a while getting used to the size (coming from S2). Anyway I'm aware that there are firmware updates available, but for some reason my phone says I'm on the latest, even though my build number is older than what is on the Sony website, what gives?

needs to be network approved.

MTN is usually faster than Vodacom in that respect.

The latest FW version is 14.1.G.2.257 only way to get it is to flash with flash tool.
Mine is Vodacom branded, guess it's a waiting game again..

Ah yes I forgot what it's like being dependent on your network for updates! D: I just thought maybe Terumo got it from VC already, but I see he used flashtool
