The new Sony flagship phone has just been announced at the 2014 MWC event.

Big news is that this phone can capture video in 4K resolution.

Widest color palette of any mobile device is promised by the 5.2-inch display on the Z2.

IPS Live Colour LED 5.2'' display

Xperia Z2 launches globally from March.

If the display of the Z2 is great, the battery life not too shabby, and SD card storage, then I might just leave Samsung.

Time to go back to my favourite company. :)

 Sony seems to be pushing out 2 flagship phones a year now. Makes me wonder how long they will continue to support the previous flagship phones.

My Xperia Z still gets updates. Just got one a couple weeks ago.

Also 120fps recording of video.

The Galaxy S4 and Note 3 do that to, if it's at HD720P then it's certainly nothing new.

I hope Sony are quicker with updates on this one, it does look tempting.

Hard to say for how long a manufacturer will continue to support older phones. I try to look at the track history. I try to compare flagship phones from previous years for reference. I usually compare to Samsung because they seem to be best at updating new OS releases (not revisions) at the moment.

Cannot remember the list, but within the Sony roadmap they included updates (mostly Firmware) back to the Xperia T, this when the Z was released.

Just watched a quick video of the Z2 and the display is mightily impressive!

Gone is the "washed out" display of the Z1 & hello to the eye-popping colours of the Z2's IPS LED display.

On the Sony firmware concerns- Sony have been actively involved in the AOSP project since the split from Ericsson. Their current update roster also looks really good, with most of their devices over the past two years getting 4.3 (such as the Xperia T and V). They've also listed a number of their devices as under investigation for KitKat.

So, I have more faith in Sony's upgrade policy than Samsung's. Oon top of it, custom firmware will be considerably more stable and useable on the Xperia line than the Galaxy range (more open chipset and handset manufacturers).
