i just wish it had 3g as well ... otherwise its an amazing phone...

Now this is wierd. I spoke to a Gavin today at the Vodacom Service Providers upgrades dept. Told him I wanted the K750i. He said that it was not available but that he could send me a list of other phones.

"Stop right there..." I said that I did not want any other phone. He said that he would phone the warehouse and get back to me.

Phoned me back and told me that the phone would not be available soon and that there was no eta.

Now why is Vodacom bulls#$%ting me?

Must I rather take out a contract with another Network? Also I dont like the Vodaphone branding. I hear that in the UK the branded phones have many problems. So I will be looking for an unbranded one.

If you get a K750 from voda, it won't be branded. Only the V-series are branded.

What is the V series? How can I get the unbranded one on upgrade as Tahir Ally states that it will be branded?

does the k750 have a joystick thing? about 5 of my buddies have k700i's and ALL of them gave trouble with the joystick thing. I prefer 5-way buttons...

SE makes vodafone branded handsets e.g V800 but the same phone is available as Z800 without branding...

I don't think that the K750 will be voda branded for this reason. Also, it's not 3G, so not ideal for vodafone live.

On the list of approved handsets the phone is listed as: SE K750i VLive.

So it looks like it will be a VLive branded phone. I've not seen a release date but Tahir should get the notifications as a retailer.

Well, in that case, it seems that I will be cancelling my Vodacom Contract and going with another operator who can give me an unbranded phone. (Also, I think that those red little Vodaphone logos on the phones look daft.)

I am selling plenty of VODAFONE BRANDED HANDSETS and NO PROBLEMS YET with software. The normal handsets also gives SOFTWARE PROBLEMS.And other networks in SA also brand their handsets and some times they are network locked

I'm confused, who's forcing you to buy a branded phone?

It's called a free market system. Suppliers offer products, you decide if you want to buy it ot not.

There are lots of things I don't want, people would love to sell me. I just don't buy it. My choice. Simple.

if you want customers to signup with you, then don't force them to walk around advertising your network...that's my personal opinion :).
I second that. ;)

I bought the branded V800 and it is a little irrritating that it can only take Voda simcards and has vodaphone everywhere. but one thing i can say is unbranded are worse with errors and software malfunctions as my friend has taking his z800 back for the third time now. so i dunno wat they do to the sofware when they brand 9except make everything orientated around Vodafone) but it seems to work.

Most people agree that as the network speeds increase, handsets will move into the world of multimedia and the management of content will become a deciding factor for users when choosing a network.

VodafoneLive! is primarily about making a portal (VLive!) easily accessible, by remapping some of the handset keys for one button operation.

To easily identify these handsets they are then also branded with the Vodafone logo, a bit like identifying performance versions of a production car with a 'M' or 'AMG' logo. It's all about marketing.

Obviously some people will not like this and will prefer the non-branded handsets. That's cool, it is after all your choice. Some forumites have gone to great lengths to 'unbrand' their handsets.

Always keep in mind that you forumites are an educated bunch, who can configure a phone to access multimedia and download it.

The majority of users will prefer to have it simple. At the rugby yesterday, listening to the crowd around me, made me realise most of them would not get past a few button presses to see a video clip of Jean's runaway try. :)

Hehe v3g, better hope you're not recognised in the crowd at the next rugby match :D

However you're right, us geeks prefer unbranded products whereas the average joe will think the branded product is cool.
