Sound options + advice

Do not want hot ears! Even with open headphones I get warm after 3-4 hours. This way I can at least test the closed ones, and if they really are too hot, sell em

I understand your concern but would guess you've never tested quality higher end headphones for more than 4 hours. I take it there are quite a few online reviews criticising PC-350 for giving hot ears? Because if not bar any mutant biology ;) I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Every single review I've read about them say your ears get warm/hot. So yes, thats why I'm worried about it. Its simple physics, there is nowhere for the air to go, so it will get warm eventually

They do get warm, my ears were sweating last night :D. I never noticed it though until i took em off hehe. It is better than sore ears though and my ears also sweat with open ones.

Yes simple logic will dictate covering ears on hot day = sweaty ears. Not much can be debated on a simple logical fact :D. I do find if you play them really loud it cools the sweat :p. I will see how it goes this weekend when my pc room is 30 degrees

And "eventually" will likely be the factor? I mean if it's once an hour or so I'd probably live with taking them off for a moment every hour. Personal though.

So if it turns out they aren't good for you, I guess the open design HD555/HD558/HD595/HD595 according to budget would be best for you.

But then I'd have probably wanted a non Xense branded sound card... Even though it's Essentially an Essence STX.

So Essence STX + HD555 (cheapest) would cost about R3,200 locally. Xense (R2,300), if you sold PC-350 for like R800 and then got HD555 you'd come out around even.

Actually R2,165 incl. VAT, they're more than other suppliers.

Retail (public) price is R2,300 - R2,600.

Not really hey, i phoned around and they were about the cheapest. Couple rand here or there but i was driving right past them.

It actually cost me 1899 because i put it through our company so i never paid the VAT :p

Um, they are a wholesale/supplier/distributor... Everywhere you phoned gets their stock from them or similar suppliers.

Why am I even explaining this. Obviously they'll be cheap. Other suppliers have them for R1,799 FWIW.

I'm quite sure you paid VAT? Surely only once it's been claimed back, would you have "not paid VAT".

Ermmm my company paid the full price I put in 1899 surely that is obvious hehe so I never paid the vat the company did which they can claim back at a later stage. Yea but 100 is not worth it to go out of my the way. What company is selling it for 1799? yea I know you won't tell me.

Company buys good at R1899 + VAT (R265)

Company sells to employee at R1899 incl VAT (R233)

Agreed. I think Frontosa has realised that Esquire are starting to compete on the gaming/enthusiast components Frontosa are well known for.
