SourceForge.net now has a mirror in SA

It's possible Tenet is pulling their Sourceforge support due to Sourceforge's controvercial changes of trying to make money through allowing adware to be bundled with downloads, they wouldn't be the only ones.

It's unfair both in principle and financially, for Sourceforge to turn into a blatant profit seeking entity while expecting other organisations to foot the bandwidth bills free of charge.

They used to just have dodgy picture ads, such as on the download page they would have ads that looked like download buttons eg "Download Here" "Download Now" etc which would take an unknowing user to a potentially questionable location and certainly not to what they wanted to download. These ads would also be very prominent compared to the actual download link (just a bit of text). Hot exactly taking the high road there.

Sourceforge then trying to bundle adware is a log that broke many supports backs as it were.

I think it's also worth noting the nuances of how they've gone about it, I doubt anyone would have problems with supporting them though ads but using ads that look like download buttons and op-out adware is all designed to get the unknowing to install things. Rather than having non confusing/deceptive ads on the site or opt-in adware, where people would have to intentionally install such things.

I doubt anyone would be against an OSS distributer or the developers making money from their work, but the way they've gone about it is hardly a shining example of good practice for what Sourceforge should be, or used to be. It may be worth noting these changes happened after Sourceforge was acquired by Dice Holdings.

Are we talking about the same SF here? The tenet mirror seems to be dead.
