SourceForge.net now has a mirror in SA

Now that's what a proper nerd should look like!

Well done & good luck.

Great news. Wish I could download 14 terabytes in 3 days :p

thank you but i thought the whole entire website was mirrored

Hi All,

*Cringe* Firstly, thats the most aweful photograph of me ever taken, and is years old :P At some point I will post a better one to repair my tarnished image *laugh*

With regards to the entire website being mirrored, sourceforge mirrors (All of them) host only the actual project files, the base website is centrally located and all project files are then redirected to the closest mirror via geographic ip location matching.

We have mirrored the entire project file base (as stated in the article, 14 terabytes), and have enabled push synchronization so its getting updated on a constant basis by Sourceforge itself.

As an additional note, we have just started synching the ubuntu cdimage set as well, which includes the DVD images, alpha / beta releases, daily builds etc. This was synched this afternoon.

Fabulous, Andrew. Mirror sites are all too few here, so we really do appreciate this! At least I do! So tired of downloads taking forever because it's situated on a USA server and South Africans are watching rugby or cricket on the internet.

a quick wolfram alpha reveals a rate of 54.01MB/s

nice....

And just yesterday I was raging trying to download an iso from sourceforge at a staggering 14Kb/s from europe with no resume functionality ,_,
