South African WoW Guild

DPs officer means you manage the largest portion of the raid and organize them to do well. Organizing raids isn't hard, set a day, make sure people attend, go to the raid.

Obviously you've never been in a progressive and successful guild.

m8.. please look at Trial and Error Sylvanas Eu.. i was a officer there before i took a break from wow..

we were realms 2nd to clear ulduar... and being a officer i rly didnt do much.. except tell other druids what to do.. so yeh

Hehehe its quite funny...

I was reading something interresting the other day on one of the forums.

In the old days, (vanilla wow) you had one or two guys parking off in orgrimar with their full HWL rank 14 gear or full tier 2.5 / tier 3.
We called them imba and drooled over their gear. Blizzard wanted to fix that.

So they made loot easy to get...

Now we sit with 3000 noobs in orgrimar parking off with their epic's and they all think they are l33t !

The only people that deserve respect in my books, are the guys that farmed Naxx at level 60... or managed to make rank 14 HWL in the old hardcore pvp days. Raiding today is NOTHING like it was in the old days. Wiping for MONTHS on one boss just to make the next phase... Aaaahhh man... I miss the good ol days !

Wiping for months on deliberately over-tuned content to slow down progression while shoving crappy resistance fights that require 3 - 4 weeks of farming rep just so you can survive one encounter. Ye the old days were hard.

Please go look at Nihilum's progress in Vanilla and TBC. It was just as fast as it is now days. They would have cleared BT in one week if they hadn't gotten cock blocked farming rep for SR gear for Sharaz they would've finished BT in 2 weeks easily.

All blizzard did was bridge the gap between semi-hardcore guilds and casual guilds.

i sense a nihilium fanboy..

anyway you have a point.. CBA farming fire res gear for 2 weeks before i can do MC..

Because I mentioned their name once I'm a fan boy, did your parents drop you repeatedly as a child?

I mentioned them because at the time they were the most progressed guild.

Oh please... I have never seen so much kuk in one post in my life.

Progression today is _Nothing_ like it was in the past.

To say nihilums progression is the same now as it was back then is total utter BS. There was multiple posts about how quickly content was cleared in WOTLK. I guess you did'nt spend any time reading their forums with their Vashj training... or even kael wipe fests for weeks. Remember attunement ?

The one thing you had back then... which you dont have today... is the sense of accomplishment when you killed a hard boss. Nothing is stopping a person that dinged 80 to go do few TOC 5 man runs, gear up and head into the final instance the game has to offer nowdays.

As much as you call the old days hard and a waste of time... they did one thing for sure... they seperated the dedicated / commited raiders from the slackers.

Yes that's why Ensidia openly admitted that Mimirion Hard Mode and Yogg 0 Keepers are the hardest bosses since pre-nerf C'thun and pre-nerf M'uru?

You are talking to someone that killed Cthun at level 60 and killed Muru pre nerf.

Please dont come and explain to me what hard is....

I get the feeling you assume I have been playing this game only for a few months now...

I think the introduction of Achievements changed everything, there is still tough content (like heroic raid achievements, like Yogg 0 Keepers) but instead of showing off your progress with gear its now done with achievements.

Very true wavelength, and this is one part of the game that killed a bit of me from the inside.

I dont see the point of going back to AQ40 at level 80 to kill Cthun to prove I have done it. I have played my hunter since day 1, never rerolled, raided every instance at their respectable level and I just cannot for the life in me, go back and do it over again to prove I done it.

Achievement points are also massively flawed and that just brings out a new level of n00bs into the game. Guys bragging with 8000 achievement points because they felt it was something incredible to /hug a squirrel, a bunny wabbit etc.

What exactly is the achievement in going back to naxx with full TOC ilevel258 gear and killing all the old bosses under their respective conditions to get those 10 achievement points. Yet those guys will be the guys with the biggest mouths firing off just how l33t they are.

The problem is and as Blizzard stated it's very poor design to design content that only 7% of the game will see. They want everyone to see everything and the only way to keep the hardcore people satisfied is to make hard modes that give you one random piece of better gear and some achievement.

You need to think of it as Blizzard does, like a business. Makes no sense sinking a load of time into something 90% of your gaming population will never see.

Yes... I can fully understand why they did it, I might not necessarily agree with it, but yes from a business point of view they are trying to squeeze every bit of life from the old beast we know as World of Warcraft.

What I dont like though, is the new breed of n00bs coming out pretending to be know-it-alls. These are usually the people that have NO idea what it meant to slap a raid together in the past and know what class synergies benefitted the most from group setups. WoW is now 100000000 times easier than it was in the past. You needed a raid leader with a brain in his skull to get a raid force through Twin Emps + Cthun. Nowdays you slap 25 people together and everything is hunkey dorey.

I agree with you but when I started playing WoW I was studying and had loads more time to play. Now tho I have a job and sometimes the whole slapping together 24 other people and face rolling content is actually quite nice.

The one thing that I'm so glad they changed was the bridge between instances. I remember a few friends who didn't get to see T5 content and then basically got screwed because they could never get into the end game guilds I was in due to not having sufficient gear but nor could they find a guild who was at their sort of progression level.

All in all I have a weird feeling Lich King as a big test bed for loads of new stuff and that we're gonna see certain things, most notably Hard Modes done a lot better come Cataclysm.

Does anyone play on darkspear?

i am looking to create a truly south african or even AFRIKAANSE (mostly social) guild on darkspear...

Please let me know if anyone would be interested in joining me in that guild...
