South African WoW Guild

There is a guild called Kurt Darren Brigade on Stormscal..... oh who am I kidding ^_^

BTW, don't be offended, I'm Afrikaans :P

Bah, youre all noobs. I explored Burning Steppes at lvl 17 on a pvp server.

Granted it wasnt by design. I was trying to get IF and didnt know about the tram. I thought, ffs, this game is hard, but, yes I solo'd mobs and horde 30+ levels above me(ok. i didnt kill anything either).

My bug was , i raided my ass off for gear and whatnot and then when the dust settled...then what? Hell i couldn't even take that phat lewts into BG's or arena because those psychos with their 900+ resilience simply dismantle me, so i had to start all over getting regeared in pvp loot.

Hardcore raiding is a treadmill, and the day you step off it, you wonder why you ever stepped on it in the first place. So you can do some crazy dps in a 5man for gear/emblems you no longer need and feel good about yourself? Odds are the pugs don't even care in the slightest.
At the very end of the day, what did you get out of it, out of all that work and farming and wiping?

Better to have the occasional raid for lulz when you really feel like and and have nothing better to do, imo. I'm just waiting for Cataclysm. Might level up an alt. REalized i had much more fun actually levelling and doing 5mans and BG's than actual raiding.

Fully agree with you - was hardcore in Vanilla and TBC. First-kills were awesome but beyond that ... meh.

well I do not have the will to do the hardcore progression in wow anymore and still from time to time I join a few friend guilds with their herioc modes in my totally undergeared druid. The progression is seriously not the same as it used to be, I agree that a few encounters are still hard to do but they are not gear demanding its basically based on execution nowadays and not dps /healing/threat races, Blizzard took a lot out of the game :(

I think they have added a whole lot more.

There has always only been a small handful of raids outside of the reach of the average wow player. That is still the case. Pre TBC, Naxx was the dungeon 95% of people never even got to see. Most realms pugged MC. Most guilds did AQ, maybe not clearing it, but going far. BWL was hard for a lot of guilds.

In TBC blizzard made the game a lot more accessible. Initially Black Temple was very difficult. BT and MH where the top end raids. The Sunwell was introduced. I doubt most casual guilds can clear Sunwell at lvl 80 :D

In WotLK, Blizzard has changed tack by allowing everyone to experience each dungeon, but also retaining the hard core element by introducing first heroic mode raid and then hard mode. Now its pretty clear from peoples gear item level, what their progression is. Yes its different, but I think its a good thing.

There is now even more end game content than before:

At lvl 60 you had Ony, MC, AQ, ZG, BWL and Naxx.

At lvl 70 you had Kara, ZA, Mag, Gruul,SC, TK, MH, BT and then Sunwell

At lvl 80 you have Naxx, Malygos, VoA, OS, Ulduar, ToC, all x 2 for 10 and 25 man versions, and Icecrown Citadel is coming shortly.

EDIT : at lvl 80, Onyxia MK 2 :D
